Associate Specialist, Engineering

Location: Prince Edward Island (Onsite)
Duration: 18-month contract (with potential extension)

Job Summary

Our client is seeking an Associate Specialist, Engineering to join their Engineering team in Prince Edward Island. This role is responsible for supporting the design, optimization, reliability, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment and engineering processes within a highly regulated production environment.

Working closely with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering teams, the successful candidate will contribute to process improvements, equipment reliability initiatives, engineering projects, and continuous improvement efforts while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

This opportunity is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving technical challenges, collaborating across departments, and driving operational excellence.

Key ResponsibilitiesEngineering & Process Improvement

- Support the design, operation, and optimization of manufacturing processes and equipment.
- Analyze production and equipment performance data to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Participate in engineering projects from planning through implementation.
- Assist with equipment specifications, process improvements, and engineering studies.
- Review engineering drawings, technical documentation, and project plans.

Equipment Reliability & Maintenance

- Develop and improve preventative maintenance programs for manufacturing equipment.
- Support new equipment installations, commissioning activities, and spare parts planning.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to improve equipment reliability and operational performance.




- Monitor maintenance performance and recommend improvements to increase efficiency.
- Utilize computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to support maintenance planning and documentation.

Quality & Compliance

- Ensure engineering activities comply with applicable GMP, quality, environmental, and safety requirements.
- Support equipment qualification, validation activities, and technical documentation.
- Participate in investigations, change management activities, and root cause analyses.
- Assist in maintaining engineering procedures, work instructions, and technical documentation.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

- Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and external vendors to support manufacturing activities.
- Participate in cross-functional project teams and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide technical guidance and support to maintenance technicians and manufacturing personnel.
- Build collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders and third-party service providers.

Reporting & Continuous Improvement

- Prepare engineering documentation, project updates, and technical reports.
- Track project milestones and support timely execution of engineering initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance, maintenance practices, and operational processes.




- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, quality, reliability, and productivity.

QualificationsRequired

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Process, Industrial, or related discipline).
- 1–3 years of engineering or technical experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects while meeting deadlines.

Preferred

- Experience working in a GMP or other regulated manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance and equipment reliability principles.
- Experience with CMMS and SAP maintenance modules.
- Lean Sigma and/or Project Management certification.
- Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives and cross-functional engineering projects.

Pay: $70,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
