Senior Business Strategy Advisor

Number of positions: 1 Job Location: Dunsmuir 06

Employment type: Temporary Region: Lower Mainland

Hours of work: Full-time (37.5 hrs/wk) Flexible Work Role: Hybrid

Annual salary: $ 131,100.00 - 165,800.00

What you'll do

This temporary position will be part of the hydroelectric investigation team, reporting to the (acting) Director, Hydroelectric
Development and Strategy. This role will support the exploration of early-stage hydroelectric investigation and expansion
opportunities. Working alongside the engineering team, the successful candidate will provide business strategy,
communications, government relations and public relations support to help advance early-stage project investigation in a
thoughtful, coordinated and credible way.

What you'll do:

- Support the planning and implementation of business strategy, communications, government relations and public

engagement activities for early-stage hydroelectric investigation and expansion opportunities.

- Work closely with engineering, Indigenous relations, regulatory, environmental, legal, communications and other internal

teams to support integrated planning and decision-making.

- Develop and coordinate clear briefing materials, presentations, issue notes, speaking points,



correspondence and other

materials for executives, project teams, government and external audiences.

- Design and manage public engagement and communications appropriate to the stage, sensitivity and complexity of each

project in close collaboration with a wide spectrum of subject matter experts.

- Support engagement with local and regional governments, provincial government, communities, stakeholders and other

interested parties, in coordination with established internal programs and accountabilities.

- Monitor and assess public, political and media sentiment, and identify emerging risks, issues and opportunities.
- Support socio-economic strategy, research, tracking and analysis.
- Work closely with the communications team on media relations, issue management and regional community relations.
- Support government relations and policy work required to advance project development, as necessary.
- Provide strategic advice on how stakeholder input, public sentiment and broader policy considerations can inform project

investigations and future potential development options.

What you bring

- A university degree, graduate certification or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline such as communications, public

relations, public policy, business, planning, political science or a related field.

- International Association of Public Participation (IAP2), conflict management and/or negotiation training are an asset.
- Experience guiding strategy on complex infrastructure development, with a focus on early-stage development.
- Background in public policy, community relations, public consultation, communications, government relations and/or

stakeholder engagement.

- Strong strategic thinking,



business judgment and critical thinking skills, with the ability to understand technical information

and translate it into clear advice, materials and messages.

- Excellent writing and editing skills, including the ability to prepare concise briefing notes, executive materials,

correspondence and public-facing content.

- Strong interpersonal and listening skills, with the ability to build credibility and effective working relationships with internal

teams, executives, governments, communities and stakeholders.

- Experience designing or supporting engagement plans, communications strategies, issue management approaches or

consultation processes.

- Experience and comfort working in high emotion environments with a commitment to listening and understanding

underlying interests.

- Ability to work collaboratively and gain alignment in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Sound judgment in managing sensitive, high-profile or emerging issues, including the ability to anticipate risks and

recommend practical responses.

- A proactive, adaptable and resourceful working style, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and contribute to a fast-

moving project environment.

- A commitment to continuous learning, collaboration and achieving results through influence, relationship-building and

sound advice.
