Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Child Care Center Cook to join our team . The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious meals and snacks for 70 children in a safe and hygienic environment. This role requires a passion for cooking and an understanding of dietary needs, ensuring that all meals meet the nutritional guidelines set forth by our center. The ideal candidate must enjoy engaging with young children on a daily basis.

Responsibilities

- Prepare and cook healthy meals and snacks for children, adhering to dietary guidelines.
- Following Canada's Food Guide for menu planning
- Ability to work in a face pace environment
- Excellent time management skills
- Adhering to Ministry, County and Health Unit requirements
- Purchasing food & kitchen supplies from distributors and local stores
- Maintaining a clean and sanitary food preparation area ensuring compliance with food safety standards.




- An awareness of food allergies and restrictions in a peanut free environment
- Maintaining kitchen finances as needed
- Possessing positive communication skills and relating to children and families
- Be self-directed and team oriented
- Plan menus that accommodate various dietary restrictions and preferences.
- Ensure all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and cleaned after use.

Requirements

- Must have current Food Handlers Certificate
- Strong background in menu planning and meal preparation.
- Proficient in food handling practices and food safety regulations.
- Culinary experience with demonstrated knife skills is essential.
- Ability to work effectively in a kitchen environment while maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with staff and understand children's needs.
