Royal Canadian Military Institute Services (RCMI) is renowned for its academic round tables, Canadian military library, museum collections, and social programs. Along with its Institute programs, RCMIS also houses a member services branch within its organization where members can enjoy dining, social events, meetings, conferences, fitness, and bedroom facilities.

Position Summary
RCMIS is seeking enthusiastic professionals to take on the role of a part-time Food & Beverage Server/Bartender. These individuals will strive to provide the highest level of food and beverage service to all members and guests enhancing their overall experience in a very supportive environment.

**Please note: RCMIS is a non-tipping environment, providing higher wages and a benefits program to full-time staff to stay competitive in the industry.

Here are some of our expectations for this position:

- The position will be predominantly tending to bar in our private Member areas, but will also be cross trained to work in our banquet & event services and member dining outlets at events as needed.
- Meet and greet members and guests in a professional, friendly and engaging way, present menus, inform of any specials, make recommendations and answer questions regarding food and beverage items.
- Take food and beverage orders and relay to kitchen and bar staff in a timely fashion.
- Comprehensive knowledge of beverage to include wines, liquors and beers; carrying out proper preparation and mixing techniques.
- Upsell wine and beverage items to compliment food selections.
- Delivers and replenishes food and beverages in accordance with the Institute standards, in a professional and courteous manner.
- Assists in linen and table setting, food station and beverage service set up and other preparation for service.
- Clears, resets and organizes tables and ensures they are cleaned in a timely manner.
- Coordinate food & beverage requirements for the events including room set-up, tear down, coordination with kitchen, and other duties as necessary.




- Complies with the standards of the Smart Serve program and the requirements of the Liquor License Act of Ontario.

Job Requirements

- Candidates should possess basic bar knowledge, positive attitude and demonstrate a strong willingness to learn and develop their skills.
- A proven team player.
- Good customer service skills, tact & diplomacy.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Basic math and language skills, including the ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing).
- Experience using a POS System, knowledge of Jonas an asset.
- Flexible work hours including days, afternoons, and evenings. While most of the shifts will be Tuesday through Saturday, some weekend and holiday shifts might be required.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Physical Requirements include: bending, standing, moving tables, chairs, and equipment, using stairs, an elevator and walking in a multi-level building on a daily basis.
- Smart Serve Certified.
- Food Handlers an asset.
- Must be eligible to work in Canada.
