Overview

Kavuus is a Canadian furniture manufacturer specializing in custom, handcrafted furniture made in British Columbia. We are looking for an experienced and skilled Upholsterer to join our production team.

In this hands-on role, you will use your upholstery expertise, attention to detail, and knowledge of furniture construction to produce high-quality sofas, sectionals, chairs, and other custom pieces. You will work closely with our production, sewing, and cutting teams to ensure each piece is completed accurately, efficiently, and to Kavuus quality standards.

This is a quick-paced manufacturing environment where craftsmanship, precision, teamwork, and reliability are highly valued.

Responsibilities

- Upholster sofas, sectionals, chairs, ottomans, headboards, and other custom furniture
- Prepare and apply foam, batting, padding, and other upholstery materials
- Measure, cut, position, stretch, and secure fabrics to furniture frames
- Work with a variety of fabrics and materials while maintaining consistency and quality
- Ensure proper fabric alignment, pattern matching, tension, seams, corners, and overall finishing
- Use pneumatic staplers, tack hammers, staple guns, and other hand and power tools
- Read and follow production specifications, measurements, and work orders
- Inspect completed pieces to identify imperfections and make necessary adjustments or corrections
- Perform repairs, rework, and modifications when required
- Safely lift, maneuver, and position furniture frames and materials throughout the production process
- Work collaboratively with sewing, cutting, frame, and production teams to maintain an efficient workflow
- Assist with moving and staging materials and furniture within the production facility as required
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Follow all workplace safety procedures and use tools and equipment responsibly
- Help maintain production timelines while ensuring quality is never compromised

Requirements





- 2–3+ years of professional upholstery experience
- Experience upholstering residential furniture such as sofas, sectionals, chairs, beds, or similar products
- Strong knowledge of upholstery techniques, furniture construction, and finishing
- Experience working with different fabrics, patterns, textures, and materials
- Proficiency with pneumatic staplers, tack hammers, and other upholstery tools
- Strong understanding of measurements and the ability to work accurately from specifications
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
- Strong attention to detail and a high standard of workmanship
- Ability to troubleshoot issues and identify practical solutions during production
- Ability to safely lift and maneuver heavy furniture frames and materials
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a production team
- Previous manufacturing, woodworking, or furniture production experience is an asset
- Forklift experience or certification is an asset
- Reliable, punctual, hardworking, and comfortable working in a hands-on production environment
