Overview
We are seeking a passionate, nurturing, and dedicated Part time - After School Teacher to join our childcare team. The ideal candidate will be committed working from 3:30PM-5:30PM to providing high-quality care and education while supporting kindergarteners and school-aged kids growth, development, and well-being in a safe and inclusive environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide a safe, caring, and welcoming environment for kindergarten and school-aged children.
- Supervise children during after-school hours, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Welcome children upon arrival from school and assist with a smooth transition into the program.
- Plan and implement engaging, age-appropriate activities that support children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development
- Promote positive behavior using respectful guidance and positive reinforcement techniques.
- Foster inclusive play and encourage positive friendships, teamwork, and conflict resolution.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and protected classroom environment, including cleaning and sanitizing materials after use.
- Conduct regular headcounts and maintain appropriate child-to-educator ratios at all times.
- Monitor children's health and report any injuries, illnesses, or concerns to the supervisor immediately.
- Communicate professionally with parents regarding children's daily experiences, achievements, and concerns during pick-up.
- Follow all daycare policies,
licensing regulations, health and safety standards, and emergency procedures.
- Work collaboratively with fellow educators and management to ensure a positive and supportive team environment.
- Support children's independence by encouraging responsibility, self-help skills, and respectful behavior.
- Participate in outdoor play and active supervision in all weather conditions, following daycare policies.
- Assist with setting up and putting away activity materials before and after the program.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and staff.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director or Supervisor.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Early Childhood Educator Level 1, 2, or 3 Certification
- Experience working with young children in a childcare setting
- Current First Aid and CPR Certification
- Valid RCMP Vulnerable Sector Check
- Doctor's Note confirming fitness to work with children
- Current TB Test
- Copy of Immunization Record
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
- Passion for early learning and child development
Wage depends on Childcare Level
Range $22.63 to $33.82 (Nlaye Enhancement after 1 year)
