Administrative Assistant

Part-time, Contract Position (28 hours per week, August 2026 – March 2027)

$28.25 to $33.46 per hour (salary commensurate on experience)

Unison Health and Community Services is a non-profit, community-based organization that serves neighbourhoods in North West Toronto. Operating out of six locations, Unison offers core services that include primary health care, counselling, health promotion, Early Years programs, legal services, harm reduction programs, housing assistance, adult protective services, Pathways to Education™ and a Diabetes Education Program. Unison’s mission is working together to deliver accessible and high quality health and community services that are integrated, respond to needs, build on strengths and inspire change.

At this time, Unison is seeking an Administrative Assistant to join our team. Reporting to the Senior Director, Community Health and Quality, the Administrative Assistant provides secretarial and administrative support to the Senior Director, Program Managers and community health programs.

Job Specific Responsibilities:

· Provide secretarial and administrative support to two managers: the Senior Director, Community Health and Quality and the Housing Services and Harm Reduction Programs Manager.

· Assist with the preparation of business presentations and communications, such as program calendars, reports, proposals, minutes and other related documents.

· Maintain an efficient and organized office area, including orderly electronic filing systems

· Coordinate the ordering and tracking of supplies for programs and teams, which may include: TTC tickets, office supplies, or other program resources





· Book space and equipment for meetings including set-up of audio-visual equipment, and ordering refreshments

· Compile data and produce reports

· Coordinate financial matters for teams including: submitting receipts and expense claims to designated manager

· Submit administrative forms and reports in a timely fashion

· Assists in the coordination of meetings, initiatives and events, as required

· Updates and revises website and social media content as requested

· Acts as a resource to other Unison administrative staff

Job-Specific Qualifications:

· Post-secondary education and/or equivalent combination of experience and education.

· 2 years of experience working in a senior administrative position.

· Able to exercise independent judgment and discretion in dealing with confidential matters.

· Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills in combination with the ability to perform duties under minimal supervision.

· Self-directed and organized with the ability to manage time with overlapping priorities and multiple areas of responsibility.

· Attention to detail and be able to demonstrate consistently in daily work.

· Advanced computer literacy (word processing, polls/surveys, Internet research, and spreadsheet and desktop publishing applications, including MS Office).

· Commitment to working cooperatively in a community-based setting as part of a multi-disciplinary team of staff, students and volunteers.





· Familiarity with the social, economic and cultural conditions of the project’s geographic area, experience in working with local service providers, community groups and networks, and an understanding of local issues and priorities are an asset.

· Experience serving Unison’s priority populations (seniors with complex needs, people with mental health & addiction issues, LGBTQ2IA+, and youth facing barriers).

· Demonstrated knowledge of, and sensitivity to, the impact of social, economic, environmental and cultural issues on diverse communities.

· Knowledge of issues affecting communities facing barriers to access in an urban environment.

· Excellent interpersonal skills, tact and diplomacy.

· Effective communication, organizational and administrative skills, skills specific to job requirements
