Job Title: Accounting Manager

Department: Finance
Reports To: General Manager

Position Overview

The Accounting Manager plays a key role in overseeing Amaranth’s financial operations and administrative systems. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, managing day-to-day accounting functions, overseeing payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, bookkeeping, budgeting, and coordinating information technology resources and systems.

This role requires strong leadership skills, extensive accounting knowledge, and the ability to support strategic decision-making through accurate financial analysis and reporting. A CPA designation is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management & Reporting

- Lead all financial and accounting operations, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
- Prepare and present accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and analysis.
- Coordinate annual audits and maintain effective internal controls, policies, and procedures.




- Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, bookkeeping, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end processes.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of financial transactions and maintenance of financial records.

Information Technology & Systems

- Oversee organizational technology systems, software platforms, and third-party IT service providers.
- Ensure the security, integrity, and effectiveness of financial and operational systems while identifying opportunities for process improvement and automation.

Leadership & Strategic Support

- Provide leadership and direction to accounting and IT team.
- Support organizational planning and decision-making through financial analysis, reporting, and operational recommendations.
- Develop and maintain solid relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors, financial institutions, and service providers.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA designation strongly preferred.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Experience

- Minimum 5 to 7 years of progressive accounting and financial management experience.
- Previous supervisory or management experience required.




- Experience overseeing payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, and financial reporting.
- Experience working with accounting software and enterprise business systems.
- Experience coordinating IT vendors and technology services is considered an asset.
- Payworks, Quickbooks, and retail accounting experience is considered an asset.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.

Time Requirements:

- Full-time salary position averaging 40 hours/week.
- Primarily office hours, however some flexibility is required as needed, including days, evenings, and weekends
- Some travel within Calgary and occasional travel across Alberta/Canda may be required

Basic Physical Requirements:

- Primarily office based, sitting for extended periods and perform computer-based work
- Walk, bend, twist, and reach overhead and below shoulder level
- Use of ladders (up to 12 feet), office equipment, and inventory tools
- Lift items up to 50 lbs. with available support tools
