Transition House is a short-term, supportive residence for men recovering from substance use and problem gambling. We are currently looking for a skilled, flexible and enthusiastic person to join our team.

The Relief Residential Counsellor will cover shifts on short notice in the event of staff illness, as well as provide vacation coverage. Shifts are generally 24 hours in length.

Responsibilities:

- The Relief Residential Counsellor is responsible for intake, assessment, referral, individual counselling, life and social skills coaching, as well as agency health, safety and security on a 24 hour basis.

Qualifications:

- An undergraduate degree/diploma in one of the social sciences from an accredited community college or university, or an approved combination of education and experience
- Strong client-centred counselling skills
- Robust attention to detail
- A commitment to support clients as they make changes
- The ability to work independently and as a member of a team
- A working knowledge of Catalyst and the ADAT screening tools.




- A familiarity with and commitment to best practices in addiction treatment
- Previous experience working in one or more of the following areas: addictions, mental health, homelessness, HIV/AIDS, crisis intervention, and harm reduction.

This is a shift work/overnight position
