Pharmacy Support Specialist – (Remote)

A client of ours is seeking a Pharmacy Support Specialist to join their growing team. This full-time remote position plays an important role in helping pharmacies deliver exceptional patient care through accurate and efficient prescription processing.

The successful candidate will be responsible for processing Central Fill-eligible Auto Refills, supporting pharmacy teams across multiple locations, and ensuring a high standard of service for patients and internal stakeholders.

What you will bring to the team

The Pharmacy Support Specialist plays a critical role in supporting the pharmacies through centralized prescription processing, client care services, and operational support. As a member of the Shared Dispensary Services Team, this position provides remote assistance to multiple pharmacy locations by performing prescription data entry, processing prescriptions, managing inbound phone calls, coordinating pharmacy services, and supporting pharmacy initiatives.

The Pharmacy Support Specialist is committed to delivering exceptional client experiences, maintaining accuracy and confidentiality, and supporting pharmacy teams in achieving operational excellence while ensuring service standards exceed industry expectations.

Client Care & Communication

- Answer and manage inbound client and pharmacy calls in a professional, courteous, and efficient manner.
- Address client inquiries, concerns, and requests, ensuring timely resolution or appropriate escalation when required.




- Provide exceptional client care and maintain service levels that exceed industry standards.
- Educate and assist clients with pharmacy programs and services, including:
- Auto Fill enrollment
- Care Plan enrollment
- Pharmacy service appointments
- Other organizational programs and initiatives
- Schedule appointments for eligible pharmacy services and follow-up activities.
- Communicate effectively with clients, pharmacy team members, and cross-functional stakeholders.

Prescription Processing & Data Entry

- Provide remote prescription data entry and processing support to multiple pharmacy locations.
- Enter, review, and process prescriptions accurately and efficiently while adhering to established procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Support pharmacy teams by ensuring timely completion of prescription-related tasks.
- Assist with Central Fill prescription processing in collaboration with Senior Pharmacy Support Specialists and onsite pharmacy teams.
- Maintain a high standard of accuracy and attention to detail in all prescription processing activities.

Third-Party Billing Support

- Assist pharmacy teams and clients with third-party billing inquiries and claim-related concerns.
- Investigate billing discrepancies and coordinate appropriate follow-up to resolve issues.
- Support pharmacy teams with payer-related questions and reimbursement concerns collaborating with Billing Excellence Specialist as needed.

Operational & Project Support

- Provide ongoing support and adherence to pharmacy initiatives, clinics, program rollouts, and operational projects.
- Assist with assigned projects and initiatives.
- Support pharmacies during periods of increased workload or operational need.
- Perform daily management of shared phone queues, including activation, monitoring, and deactivation as required.
- Participate in virtual training sessions, scheduled team meetings, activities, and other operational touchpoints.

Team Collaboration

- Work collaboratively with:
- Pharmacy Managers
- Pharmacists
- Pharmacy Assistants and Technicians
- Senior Pharmacy Support Specialists
- Operations Support Specialists
- Operations Managers/Regional Managers
- Other healthcare professionals and support teams

- Maintain strict confidentiality of client records, health information, and proprietary business information.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

- 4+ years Pharmacy Assistant experience required
- Previous experience in a community pharmacy, healthcare environment, customer service role, or call center setting considered an asset.
- 4+ years’ experience with prescription data entry and processing, in-depth knowledge of Kroll Pharmacy Management System, and third-party billing is preferred.

Working Conditions

- Remote-based role providing centralized support to multiple pharmacy locations.
- May be times required to be onsite if in close proximity to Pharmacy locations.
- Frequent telephone and computer work.
- Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.
- May require flexibility in scheduling to support operational requirements
