ROLE SUMMARY
The Team Leader leads the HCC Formation Internship. This role exists to make sure the interns are accompanied, to assist them with living out the four pillars of prayer, study, community, and mission, and to establish a reliable line of communication between the intern team and HCC leadership. The Team Leader is a full HCC Staff member, not one of the interns.
KEY INFORMATION
- Reports to: Program Coordinator
- Work Term: Full academic year (September - April), mirroring the intern cohort
- Work Hours: 10 hours per week
- Compensation: $16.75 (minimum wage)
- Profile: A recent graduate or young adult, not a current intern
COMPENSATION + FORMATION
The Team Leader is encouraged to participate fully in the four pillars of prayer, study, community, and mission. That said, because their primary responsibility is the leadership of the team, some of these responsibilities are not mandatory and if the team leader participates, it is to be clearly understood that their participation is unpaid. The one exception to this is the team lunch and leading one Office in the Daily Order of Prayer,
which do count towards their weekly paid hours.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the primary point of contact between HCC leadership and the intern team.
- Accompany and mentor the interns: a weekly team check-in and regular one-to-one conversations across the cohort.
- Coordinate the team’s logistics: the prayer rotation, the hospitality schedule, and event planning.
- Take a share of hospitality shifts alongside the interns.
- Help the interns schedule the Daily Order of Prayer and lead one Office
- Support and oversee the monthly events the interns lead.
- Report to the Program Coordinator, flagging anything — pastoral, practical, or personal — that needs attention.
The Team Leader is not responsible to select the interns (the Coordinators do).
QUALIFICATIONS
- A practicing Catholic committed to the chaplaincy’s Rule of Life.
- A recent graduate or young adult, ideally with prior involvement in Holy Cross Chaplaincy or comparable formation.
- Organized and dependable, with the ability to coordinate schedules, lead a team, and communicate professionally with minimal supervision.
- Relational and pastoral: able to accompany students, not only manage them.
- Able to commit to the role for the full academic year.
- Satisfactory background check and in compliance with the Archdiocesan Responsible Ministry Protocol.
