Position
IT Technician – Information Security Specialist – Full‑Time – Head Office, Richmond
Role & Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain information security controls across networks, endpoints, applications, and cloud services.
- Monitor and triage security alerts from tools such as Darktrace NDR, Palo Alto Networks firewalls, and endpoint protection platforms.
- Support incident response activities, including evidence collection, initial investigation, and escalation.
- Assist with vulnerability scanning, remediation tracking, and patch management.
- Help maintain security documentation, policies, procedures, and asset inventories.
- Assist with third‑party/vendor security reviews and questionnaires.
- Participate in security awareness initiatives and help promote secure user behavior.
- Perform routine security checks and operational tasks as assigned.
- Document IT procedures, configurations, and incidents.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in information security operations, IT security, or a related technical role.
- Familiarity with web application security concepts such as OWASP Top 10.
- Experience with security tools (SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls).
- Understanding of cybersecurity frameworks and best practices.
- Solid problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred / Nice to Have
- Experience with Palo Alto Networks security solutions.
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 or cloud environments.
- Understanding of security frameworks such as NIST.
- Basic scripting or automation experience using Power Shell or Python.
