Staff Firmware Engineer at Tenstorrent. About the role Tenstorrent is building high-performance AI hardware and has developed a RISC-V CPU from the ground up. This position focuses on OpenBMC-based firmware architecture, next-generation server platform bring-up, and maintaining a customized embedded Linux distribution. You will work at the intersection of hardware and software, partnering with firmware and hardware teams to deliver secure BMC firmware.

What you'll do
- Architect and build advanced OpenBMC features along with platform-specific customizations
- Own Yocto and OpenEmbedded distribution work, including custom layers, recipes, and BitBake workflows
- Lead ARM-based BMC SoC bring-up on hardware such as ASPEED AST2600, covering bootloader, Linux kernel, and peripheral initialization
- Implement and tune management protocols including Redfish, IPMI, PLDM, and MCTP
- Improve firmware quality through debugging, code reviews, security feature integration, and cross-team coordination
- Mentor engineers, set architectural direction, and raise code quality standards
Requirements
- Senior-level experience building and scaling Embedded Linux and OpenBMC firmware in production settings
- Ability to work across the hardware-software boundary, from ARM SoC bring-up through kernel, bootloader, and userspace services
- Strong debugging skills for complex low-level system issues
- Effective communication with hardware, BIOS, QA, and security teams
