Amazon Web Services (AWS) is growing rapidly, and we are looking for a Data Center Engineering Operations Manager to join our expanding Infrastructure Operations team in Airdrie, Alberta.A DCEO Manager is one of our most senior management roles in the data center setting. In this role you will be responsible for leading an organization, managing Managers and/or Facility Managers who own data center facility infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of data center IT infrastructure and data center facilities infrastructure.Note: This position requires that the candidate selected obtain and maintain an active Reliability Status security clearance with the Government of Canada. Fluency in both French and English is required.ResponsibilitiesHiring, managing, and developing the operations management team including compute operations managers, engineering operations managers, logistics operations managers, and security operations managers.Attainment of organizational performance goals and objectives relating to safety, security, availability, scaling, and efficiency.Planning and executing the Infrastructure Operations component of new AWS data center build outs, new co-location build-outs, AWS data center expansions, and co-location expansions, including server hardware install, troubleshooting and repair, security system install, troubleshooting and repair, and related Operations tasks.Operation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems for Amazon data centers to include preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and change management.Vendor management of co-location data center services providers to meet or exceed contracted performance SLAs.Safety, security, and availability incident response,



incident management, and incident resolution.Continuous improvement of operational processes, procedures, methods, and tools.Basic RequirementsBachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or related field.5+ years as a manager of managers.10+ years managing data center operations, facility engineering, critical environments, build-outs, or similar.5+ years delivering complex projects with proven track record.5+ years owning mission-critical teams/products; autonomous management of geographically distributed infrastructure teams.Fluent in French and English (required for global/provincial Amazon interactions).Preferred QualificationsMaster's degree in Engineering and Business Administration, or related fields.5+ years using continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma).5+ years as technical PM or team member on data center build-outs and startups.5+ years in IT infrastructure (compute/storage servers, networking, service delivery).4+ years in hardware/security install, troubleshooting, repair; data center mechanical/electrical/controls operations.Vendor management for co-location SLAs; incident response/resolution; process improvements; hiring/developing high-performing teams.CompensationBase salary range: $130,300 – $187,700 CAD annually. Total compensation may include sign-on payments and RSUs.
