This role issues bylaw notices and tickets, conducts inspections, maintains accurate enforcement records, and coordinates compliance measures, including contract services where required. The position also assists with business licensing administration, supports the onboarding of new team members, collaborates with colleagues to deliver effective bylaw services,
and performs all duties in accordance with occupational health and safety requirements.Our Ideal Candidate:Bylaw I & II Enforcement certificate, or equivalent combination of education and experienceMinimum of 2 years of experience as either a Bylaw or Peace OfficerBasic First AidAbility to obtain and maintain a Police Information CheckCertified by an accredited organization in Bylaw Officer Protective Force Options which includes:Handcuffing techniquesUse of intermediate weapons (baton, pepper spray)National use of force modelClass 5 BC Driver's LicenseAbility to correctly read and interpret municipal bylawsNecessary knowledge of provincial and federal legislation in relation to bylaw enforcementDemonstrated computer skills in Microsoft Office and the ability to use computerized databasesExcellent communication and listening skillsAbility to exercise courtesy, tact and diplomacy in sensitive and/or conflict situations, often in the face of substantial and unwarranted verbal abuseAbility to be perceptive and persuasiveLegible handwriting and the ability to communicate in writingGood organizational skillsEligibility and RequirementsAre you legally eligible to work in CanadaDo you currently have a valid Class 5 Driver's License or equivalentHave you completed Bylaw Level 1Have you completed Bylaw Level 2Driver's AbstractDo you have Basic First Aid CertificateDo you have the ability to obtain and maintain a Police Information CheckJob DetailsCompetition No. 26-35E | Opens July 21, 2026 | Closes August 24, 2026Full Time - Permanent | 40 hrs/wk | 4 on/3 off | $42.59/hrBenefits | Municipal Pension Plan | 4 weeks vac at 2 years #J-18808-Ljbffr
