What you'll do
- Lead the design and development of mechanical components and systems, ensuring adherence to project specifications and timelines.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, software developers, and project managers, to ensure integrated product development.
- Conduct thorough analyses and simulations to validate designs and assess performance under various conditions.
- Create detailed engineering documentation, including specifications, drawings, and reports, to support manufacturing and quality assurance processes.
- Implement design improvements based on testing results and feedback from stakeholders, driving continuous improvement initiatives.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance, fostering a culture of learning and innovation within the team.
- Participate in project planning and resource allocation,
ensuring that engineering efforts align with business objectives and timelines.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, applying this knowledge to enhance product offerings and engineering practices.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to address potential engineering challenges throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure that materials and components meet quality standards and project requirements.
- Prepare and present technical information to stakeholders, including clients and management, to facilitate informed decision-making.
- Support the testing and validation of prototypes, ensuring that products meet regulatory standards and customer expectations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design and engineering, preferably in a product development environment.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for designing and modeling mechanical components.
- Strong understanding of engineering principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD)
tools is highly desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to mechanical engineering and product safety.
- Proven track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and quality standards.
Nice to have
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation or eligibility for registration.
- Experience in the aerospace, automotive, or robotics industries.
