Lead Piping Designer
We are seeking a Lead Piping Designer to provide technical expertise, guidance, and leadership on piping design across multiple projects, from concept through construction and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop plant layouts through studies and investigations.
- Prepare a wide range of piping drawings including PFDs, P&IDs;, plot plans, equipment layouts, general arrangements, and isometric drawings using 2D/3D CAD tools.
- Generate piping deliverables such as line designation tables (LDT), specialty item lists, pipe support details, spring support lists/details, valve lists, and bills of material.
- Manage a large volume of deliverables efficiently while maintaining quality.
- Interface and collaborate with other engineering disciplines.
- Provide direction and guidance on 2D/3D CAD design practices.
- Review vendor equipment drawings, discipline drawings, and fabricator submissions.
- Conduct squad checks to ensure design accuracy and consistency.
- Mentor junior designers, providing guidance and reviewing their work.
- Ensure all issued deliverables meet project and corporate quality standards.
- Visit project sites, field locations, and vendor shops as required.
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of relevant piping design experience.
- Advanced knowledge of piping design principles and plant layout.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Plant3D, AutoPlant 2016, or SmartPlant (S3D) preferred.
- Experience in fabrication, sulphur, and thermal facilities.
- Field/construction exposure considered an asset.
- Robust English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Superior attention to detail with strong problem‑solving abilities.
- Demonstrated initiative, adaptability, and self‑management.
- Effective team player with the ability to work independently.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with ability to balance multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
