The Position
Located in Timmins, Ontario, Discovery Kidd Creek consists of Mine and Concentrator sites focused on developing and sustaining economic mining plans for its ore body. The mine extends to a depth of 3.01 km (9,889 ft), making Kidd the world’s deepest base‑metal mine.
Discovery Kidd Creek is now accepting resumes from students of Mine Engineering for a co‑op placement beginning in September 2026. This is a 12‑month placement.
The position offers an excellent opportunity to work closely with experienced Mining Engineers, Technologists and Technicians in an extremely deep and technically challenging mining workplace.
The co‑op will be challenged with work from a variety of engineering disciplines, most significantly Mining Engineering. Duties will include preparing engineering designs and drawings using standard computer techniques for drilling, blasting and backfill processes. The co‑op will also be exposed to practical aspects of engineering design in areas of ventilation, ground control, scheduling, surveying, projects, or mine design.
Skills and Qualifications
- Be enrolled in a Mining Engineering program at a recognized Canadian university
- Thrive in a fast‑paced environment
- Possess working knowledge of AutoCAD and preferably Amine
- Have strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada
