Position SummaryThe Director of Business Development at Walmart Data Ventures is a classic player/coach opportunity. In this role you are responsible for developing new data commercialization business opportunities by working with Walmart suppliers, introducing them to our solution suite. This role is vital to accelerating and growing revenue through data products, stewarding opportunities from idea to go-to-market launch success. The Director of Business Development will accomplish this through leading a team of business development/sales professionals.What You'll DoLead, train, coach a team of sales professionals responsible for the sales cycleIdentify, negotiate, and close new data commercialization partnership opportunities across a wide range of industries and verticalsResponsibly steward the balance between commercial opportunity and data security and customer trust to unlock new businessesClosely partner with new product development leaders to explore and accelerate current use cases into fully developed business plansUtilize a consultative approach to evaluate new business opportunities, deal-sizing, analyze competitors, recommend strategies, and lead proposal/face-to-face negotiations to win new businessGrow the top of the innovation funnel. Maintain a strong cadence of networking, contacting and engaging prospects in the data commercialization space.Follow through with all aspects of the sales cycle – from initial prospecting, managing internal communication, reviewing deal terms, to contract executionConsistently utilize and monitor team's utilization of CRM tools (Salesforce), sales qualification framework MEDDPICC, Gong, and any other tool adopted by Data VenturesProvide guidance and forecasting to leadership on all pipeline sales opportunities.
Increase visibility and executive support for new business initiatives and support required for successPrepare and deliver effective presentations and go-to-market proposalsEnsure that all new data products are launched in a way that leads to client and partner success.
