OverviewPosition: Backend Developer – Air Supply Organization, Expedia Group (Montreal, Quebec). The role is responsible for designing and implementing highly scalable, maintainable backend services that power Expedia's airline booking platform, enabling millions of travelers to search, book, and manage flights. The team is distributed and works in Agile environments, collaborating with senior engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to deliver high‐quality solutions.ResponsibilitiesLead design and implementation of scalable products and solutions, delivering clean, maintainable, well‐documented code.Identify opportunities for process and technology improvements and drive their adoption.Support production systems: investigate incidents, troubleshoot, and resolve issues.Apply creative problem‐solving to overcome obstacles and close defects.Create and update documentation to facilitate knowledge sharing.Participate in technical reviews and provide constructive feedback.Collaborate with product managers to formulate user stories and acceptance criteria.Work closely with senior and principal engineers to architect effective solutions.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's or Master's degree in a related technical field or equivalent professional experience.At least 5 years of professional software development experience with a Bachelor's degree,



or 3 years with a Master's degree.Experience developing in modern languages such as Java or Kotlin.Proficiency in designing and building REST and gRPC APIs, and applying OOP principles (SOLID, Domain‐Driven Design).Preferred QualificationsFluency in French and English.Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).Experience with relational and non‐relational data stores.Knowledge of CI/CD, Git source control, and monitoring/logging tools (Splunk, Datadog).Track record designing and architecting moderately complex distributed systems.Experience in Agile teams and supporting production applications, including debugging.CompensationThe total cash range for Montreal is $108,500.00 to $152,000.00, with potential upside to $173,500.00 based on performance.
