SYSTRA Canada is an engineering and consulting firm whose primary focus is to offer transportation solutions, whether for passengers or goods: feasibility studies of building a current railway line, increasing the capacity of the existing infrastructure, privatization of a railway.Understand better who we are by visiting www.Systracanada.Com.ContextReporting to the Facilities Design Director, within the Co-Development Phase of the ALTO programme, the Engineer Lead will provide technical governance, lead design, coordination and delivery of their work discipline work package for Facilities High-Speed Rail (HSR) programme. The Engineer Lead is responsible for overseeing the planning, design, integration, and delivery strategy of their respective discipline, and facilities with associated elements of those facilities on the corridor, ensuring alignment with programme objectives, operational requirements, regulatory frameworks, and lifecycle performance targets. This role entails multidisciplinary design coordination (architecture, structural, MEP, utilities, fire/life safety, vertical transportation, civil interfaces, and rail systems integration), combined with applicable interface management across civil, rail systems, operations, and stakeholders. The Engineer Lead acts as the accountable authority for Facilities-specific discipline decisions and Engineer of Record.Missions / Main DutiesStrategic Leadership, Design and GovernanceSupport and uphold the overall Facilities Development Strategy across all project phases (concept to commissioning).Implementation of the Facilities Development Plan, including:Uphold design strategy and facilities visionAdhering to programme milestones and delivery roadmapComply with design maturity and review gatesComply with interface and integration strategyInput to risk and opportunity managementEnforce disciplines technical governance frameworks for their respective discipline and facilities, including:Preparation of engineering discipline design drawings, reports and specificationsDesign review processes (e.G. 30/70/90/IFC)Lead engineering design team membersChange control and configuration managementDesign assurance and compliance mechanismsDecision-making and escalation processesEnsure disciplines alignment of facilities design with:Programme objectives and funding constraintsConcept of Operations (ConOps)



and service strategySustainability and climate resilience objectivesProgramme-Level Interface ManagementWork with facilities Design Director in the interface management between facilities and key programme components and programme-wide Interface ManagementWork with the Systemwide Engineer to ensure and implement consistent interface solutions of the facilities with overall framework.Stakeholder and Authority ManagementProvide support to the Facilities Design Director as needed for discipline input for facilities engagement as applicable with:Federal, provincial, and municipal authoritiesTransport Canada and regulatory bodiesUtility providers and third partiesMunicipal planning and urban integration stakeholdersProvide discipline materials for the permitting and approvals of the facilities.Ensure facilities designs comply with applicable Canadian codes and standards.Operational IntegrationUnderstand and support the overall facilities vision and operation and maintenance requirements across the programmeImplement the engineering discipline's integration of:Capacity study outputsOperational requirementsCommercial and retail strategiesEnsure the engineering discipline of the facilities complies with the design principles while allowing contextual adaptationRisk, Cost, and Performance ManagementWork with the Facilities Design Director in inputting disciplinary risks to the overall facilities programme, including:Design risks and constructability challengesInterface and integration risksRegulatory and approval risksStakeholder-related constraintsWork with the Facilities Design Director in value engineering and optimization strategies at the discipline and facilities levelEnsure alignment of the discipline's scope with programme budget, schedule, and performance targetsMonitor discipline's own performance and ensure quality and consistency within the facilitiesProcurement and Delivery StrategySupport the procurement strategy for facilities packages,



including providing:Drawings and reportsTechnical and performance specificationsEnsure coherence of facilities packages across interfaces and disciplines.Construction and Delivery Oversight (potentially as per project agreements)Provide executive technical oversight for facilities constructability.Ensure design intent is maintained through delivery.Support resolution of major facilities specific technical issues and interface conflicts.Oversee readiness for commissioning, handover, and operational integration of facilities.Profile / SkillsExperience & Technical CompetenciesAccredited degree in EngineeringProfessional Engineer (P.Eng.
