Position: Emergency Veterinarian, DVMLocation: Whitby, OntarioOnsite, in hospital, Full TimeReason for Job Posting: New VacancyOverviewAs an emergency veterinarian, you'll handle any emergency that comes through the door, from routine cases to complex surgeries, and treat every kind of pet, including exotics. You will work full‐time on the hospital floor, supporting customers, and performing surgeries, diagnostics, and endoscopic procedures. We provide an environment rooted in mentorship, continuous learning, and unlimited ER‐focused CE.ResponsibilitiesAnswer medical questions over the phone.See patients right away as part of the VEG Triage and VEG Spikes, our unique customer‐centered approach.Gather signalment, presenting complaint, vitals, and physical exam.Conduct physical examinations and required investigations such as ultrasounds, X‐rays, bloodwork, and biopsies.Complete diagnoses and develop diagnostic and therapeutic plans.Communicate diagnoses and treatment options directly with customers.Prepare estimates and present them to customers.Create and review medical records to ensure accuracy.Demonstrate the value of tests and treatments to customers.Perform minor and major emergency surgeries.Perform endoscopic procedures.Educate customers on after‐care and preventative measures where appropriate.QualificationsA DVM degree or equivalent.Licensed by the College of Veterinarians of Ontario.Thrive in a team‐oriented environment.Goal‐oriented and sense of humor.Passionate about emergency medicine, surgery, and endoscopy.Ability to stand for long hours, kneel, lift up to 25 kg alone and support up to 40 kg with assistance.Willingness to work in a noisy environment with strong or unpleasant odors.Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating or as‐needed basis.Ability to work well in a fast‐paced setting with diverse people.BenefitsCompetitive compensation, potential for bonus, and company RRSP matching (approximately $950–$1,128 per shift).Four weeks vacation.Professional liability insurance coverage.Comprehensive health and wellness benefits, including an employee assistance program.Possible transaction bonus after one year of full‐time, active employment.Unlimited ER CE and travel stipend for full‐time credentialed staff ($2,500 per year).Clinical student loan repayment support.Up to 10 weeks top‐up for parental leave.Flexible work schedules.Referral reward program.Comfy scrubs, swag, and fridge food.DEIAt VEG, diversity is not just a word—it's a strength that fuels innovation and compassion.
