About The Chance
Our internationally recognized client located in central Ottawa is looking for a Director of Finance & Operations to join their progressive, people & culture-first organization on a full-time, permanent basis. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Management of General Ledger and related accounting duties
- Financial reporting and production of financial statements- prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports while ensuring accuracy
- Assisting in the coordination and preparation of budget and financial forecasts as well as analyze variances on projects, local and international
- Oversee local and international project management cycle, including cash flow management of project-based financials
- Working closely with donors and government grants, as well as Global Affairs Canada
- Maintain rigorous record-keeping and compliance for donations and gifts
- Oversee changes in foreign currencies and currency fluctuations
- Benefits & Pension Administration for all eligible employees
- Submission of tax remittances
- Coordination and preparation of budget and financial forecasts, institute and maintain planning and control procedures and analyze report variances
- Preparing Month and Year End closing, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and proper documentation
- Liaising with auditors, take an active role in internal and external Audit, providing required reporting
- Ensuring financial compliance as well as implementation of process improvements, monitoring for accurate and successful execution
- Provide representation and work directly with the union on all matters
- Build and promote strong relationships with funders, partners, and community while representing the core values of the organization
- Lead the organization's financial stewardship framework for international partnerships, including financial due diligence, risk assessment, partner capacity strengthening, audit follow-up, and continuous improvement of financial management systems
- Provide strategic financial leadership for institutional donor proposal development, budget negotiations, contribution agreement implementation, and financial close-out of major grants
- Provide contributions and recommendations regarding financial and operational aspects of the organization, communicating with Senior Management on strategic initiatives
- Provide Financial updates to Executive Director, Board members, committees, and more, offering insights on financial health, risk mitigation
- Oversee and provide support to Accounting & HR
- Participate in other active projects and ad hoc reporting as needed
About You
The successful candidate will have the following:
- Completed education in Finance, Business Administration, or an equivalent stream
- 5+ years of experience in Accounting & Finance in a Senior role
- Previous experience in the international Not for Profit sector
- Previous experience dealing with government funding
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel
- Strong oral, written, and communication skills (English essential)
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Highly organized, strong attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal skills, self-starter, collaborative
About the Job
The salary band for this role is $100,000 to $115,000 depending on relevant previous experience.
Please note that all candidates must be permitted to work in Canada to be considered for this opportunity.
