Award recipients receive research funding and institutional support to advance transformative research in Canada's strategic priority areas, build partnerships across sectors, and translate research into applications and impacts that benefit Canadians and the world.The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2027.Strategic Priority AreasAdvanced digital technologies (AI, quantum, cybersecurity)Environment, climate resilience, and the ArcticQualifications and RequirementsThe University of Toronto requires that candidates have a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, with a demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching.Applicants must demonstrate an independent research program with potential for impact through collaborations and translation. Evidence of research excellence should be internationally competitive, including publications in leading journals, strong conference presentations, accolades or awards,



and endorsements by referees of high standing.Teaching excellence must be demonstrated at the undergraduate and graduate levels through a teaching dossier that may include a teaching statement, workshops or seminars led, student mentorship, conference presentations, teaching assistant or course instructor experience, course syllabi, course evaluations, or other evidence of superior teaching performance.Candidates should be within five years (minus eligible delays such as maternity, parental, medical, or bereavement leave credited as twice the time taken) of the start date of their first research‐related appointment defined as an appointment where the individual has autonomy to conduct independent research.Research interests should align with the strategic priority areas above, with a focus on AI for Science and AI for Engineering across all engineering areas in electrical and computer engineering. Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering.SalaryThe salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
