We are the world's trusted infrastructure consulting firm, partnering with clients to solve the world's most complex challenges and build legacies for future generations.Job DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to provide technical leadership and deliver high‐quality electrical engineering design and contract administration for complex commercial and institutional building projects across Alberta, with occasional travel outside the province for project-related coordination only. This role focuses on design excellence, multidisciplinary collaboration, and guiding junior team members. This position is for a newly created position.The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in building electrical systems, strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards, and proven experience supporting projects through design, construction, and closeout. You will play a key role in leading electrical design packages, supporting construction-phase reviews, coordinating with clients and project partners, and contributing to the growth and development of the electrical team.What You Will DoElectrical Engineering & Design LeadershipLead the design and development of electrical systems, including:Power distribution systems (low and medium voltage)Lighting, emergency and standby power systemsGrounding, bonding and protection systemsFire alarm and life safety systemsSecurity and surveillance systemsAV system integrationPerform and oversee engineering calculations including load studies, short circuit, coordination, and arc flash analysisPrepare and review drawings, specifications, and technical documentationEnsure compliance with Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), Alberta codes, and industry standardsProvide technical guidance and mentorship to technologists, EITs, and junior engineers to the more junior technical teamSupport value engineering, constructability reviews,



and design optimizationElectrical Contract AdministrationManage electrical scope throughout all construction phases, from tender through project closeout.Review and respond to project documentation including shop drawings, RFIs, submittals, and change orders.Conduct field reviews and site observations to verify alignment with design intent and applicable standards.Coordinate with contractors and consultants as well as internal project teams to resolve design and construction issues.Monitor project progress, schedules, and deliverables to support successful execution.Prepare construction documentation including field reports, deficiency lists, and closeout materials.Support project managers with cost control, change evaluation, and risk management activities.Field Reviews & Construction SupportPrepare field reviews and complete field review reports.Fire Alarm & Life Safety SystemsDesign and review fire alarm systems in accordance with ULC standards.Review sequences of operation and shop drawings for life safety systems.Coordinate testing and commissioning with contractors and AHJs.Support or oversee fire alarm verification activities.Ensure compliance with municipal and provincial regulatory requirements.Security and Communication SystemsSupport security systems infrastructure requirements.QualificationsQualifications & ExperienceBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering + 6 years of experience managing multiple projects of various types and complexities for commercial, institutional, and light industrial clients.Proven experience in contract administration and project delivery.In-depth knowledge of:Canadian Electrical Code (CEC)Alberta Building Code,



National Building CodeLEED and sustainable designApplicable CSA and ULC standardsValid Class 5 driver's license (travel to project sites required)Ability to obtain security clearance (Police/RCMP Reliability Status)Preferred Qualification10+ years of progressive experience in electrical design and construction support.Registered or eligible for registration as a P.Eng. with APEGA.Strong experience in electrical consulting and building systems design.Technical SkillsAdvanced proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit.Solid knowledge of electrical system modeling and analysis tools (e.G., ETAP, SKM – asset).Experience with lighting design software (AGI32 or DIALux – preferred).Familiarity with commissioning processes and documentation workflows.Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 Suite.Strong understanding of protection, coordination, and control systems.Soft SkillsStrong leadership and mentorship capabilities.Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination skills.High attention to detail with strong analytical problem‐solving abilities.Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‐paced environment.Strong organizational and time‐management skills.Working ConditionsHybrid work model: office, home, and project sites.Travel within Alberta and occasional out‐of‐province travel.Occasional extended hours during fire alarm verifications and major project milestones.Competitive salary based on experience.Comprehensive health and benefits package.Professional development and licensing support.Continuing education through AECOM University.Preferred AssetsExperience in consulting engineering environments.Experience with large‐scale commercial, institutional, or infrastructure projects.Project management and client‐facing experience.Additional InformationCompany paid relocation is not available for this position.Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.As an Equal Opportunity Employer, we believe in your potential and are here to help you achieve it.
