Kwantlen Polytechnic University seeks an Indigenous Designer-in-Residence to enrich the Wilson School of Design community. This hybrid position balances personal design projects with community engagement and mentorship.
This temporary part-time role calls for established or emerging Indigenous designers, including First Nations, Métis, and Inuit. You will support design research, create new works, and actively engage with students and faculty at KPU. Successful candidates should possess community-based design experience and a commitment to reconciliation.
Key Responsibilities:
• Organize and host events such as talks and workshops
• Conduct guest lectures and workshops at WSD and KPU
• Mentor students and designers of varying skills




• Participate in WSD events to foster connections
• Meet regularly with the Director of Strategy and Business Development
Requirements:
• Relevant experience rooted in Indigenous communities
• Established record in design disciplines
• Participation in design community events
• Enthusiasm for community engagement
• Willingness to collaborate on event planning
