In addition to having centres across the province, the Ontario SPCA operates spay/neuter and wellness clinics, SPCA Mobile Animal Wellness Services unit, and hosts MASH-style clinics to bring routine care and spay/neuter services to underserved communities. We also find loving homes for thousands of animals each year at our animal centres across the province - animals who depend on the compassion of a veterinary care team to bring them back to health so they can get their second chance. We are seeking an experienced, licensed, full-time Veterinarian in a hybrid role responsible for supporting Ontario SPCA Provincial Animal Centres with medical oversight and support for both individual medical cases and population-based medicine cases. Registered veterinarians work under the direction of the Medical Director and VP, Operations, supporting the maintenance of preventative health programs and shelter medicine protocols. Delivery of care is provided through a hybrid model of telemedicine services as well as on-site visits. Species supported primarily include cats and dogs, but opportunities to support small animals and birds are also available. A Typical Day Provide telemedicine services and in-person support for individual and population-based medical cases across 6-7 provincial Ontario SPCA Animal Centres. Services are provided for both animals in shelter and animals out of shelter in foster homes. Actively advocate for animals in care in collaboration with Ontario SPCA Animal Centre teams across the province to ensure medical, emotional, and behavioural needs are being met through daily and weekly rounds with Ontario SPCA Centre Managers, RVT's and animal care staff.
