Job DescriptionThe position provides basic administrative work processes, technical knowledge, and direction as listed. This role has the responsibility to promote Fluor's competitiveness within the global marketplace by delivering quality services of unmatched value and technical competence. This position serves as a Discipline Material Control on assigned projects or reports to Discipline Lead Material Controllers on assigned projects of difficult complexity. Has working knowledge of Fluor's practices and guidelines.Material Control PlanningDevelop and maintain the Structural Material Control Plan in alignment with project execution plans and material responsibility matrixAlign material control activities with project schedules, CWP structure, and construction sequencingEstablish and maintain Material Control Level SchedulesMaterial Take-Off (MTO) & Quantity ManagementInitiate, validate, and maintain structural material take-offs (MTOs) (steel, concrete, rebar, anchors, etc.)Perform quantity verification, cross-checking, and change control of structural materialsTrack quantities through stages (baseline, control, forecast, IFC) and maintain audit trailProcurement & RequisitioningPrepare and manage material requisitions (RFQ/PO) and support procurement processesCoordinate with engineering and procurement on technical documentation and specificationsEnsure requisition timing aligns with project schedules and delivery requirementsMaterial Tracking & SystemsUtilize MaterialManager / MQMS/ Quantifier systems to manage structural material data, forecasting, and reportingMaintain catalogs, material codes, and piece-mark tracking for fabricated steel (if applicable)Monitor procurement status (required, ordered, received)Reporting & ForecastingDevelop and maintain key quantity reports and material trend reportsForecast structural material quantities and identify risks or shortagesSupport monthly reporting for project controls and managementCoordinationInterface with engineering, procurement, material planning, construction, and fabricatorsSupport material planning, expediting priorities,
and delivery strategiesAssist with fabrication drawing review and piece-mark trackingMaterial Planning & Site SupportSupport material availability planning and expediting strategiesAssist warehouse and construction teams with:Material receiving (MRR)Shortage resolutionSurplus minimizationBasic Job RequirementsAccredited two (2) year degree or global equivalent in applicable field of study and four (4) years of work-related experience or a combination of education and directly related experience equal to six (6) years if non-degreed; some locations may haveadditional or different qualifications to comply with local requirementsMinimum 3 years' experience in structural materials (steel, concrete, rebar systems) managementFamiliarity with MTO processes, fabrication workflows, and EPC projectsExperience with material control systems (MaterialManager, MQMS, Quantifier etc.) preferredAbility to communicate effectively with audiences that include but are not limited to management, coworkers, clients, vendors, contractors, and visitorsJob related technical knowledge necessary to complete the jobAbility to learn and apply knowledge of applicable local, state/province, and federal/national statutes and guidelinesAbility to attend to detail and work in a time-conscious and time-effective mannerPreferred QualificationsStrong understanding of structural materials and drawingsStrong understanding of Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
and Construction Work Package (CWP)Familiarity with structural analysis software and 3D modelling software such as RISA 3D and NavisworksProficient in conducting material take-offs at preliminary engineering levels and detailed engineering levelsAbility to manage large datasets and perform quantity reconciliationProficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with a strong emphasis on Microsoft ExcelAnalytical skills in quantity tracking and forecastingAttention to detail and data accuracyStrong coordination and communication skillsUnderstanding of construction sequencing and logisticsBenefitsFluor Canada rewards hard work, knowledge, and commitment.
