The student will conduct primary research in the context of a global research project on local journalism. They will be responsible for researching and drafting a list of potential research participants, conducting interviews, and organizing interview data. Other tasks could include related secondary research and administrative tasks associated with the project. The student can work flexible hours with requirements as a remote position, with in-person on campus participation for planning and collaborative portions of the project.Working with SAIT and research participants, the student will:Draft a list of potential interview participants for approvalMake contact with potential research participants to plan interviewsConduct interviews with research participantsMaintain records of interviews and participant consentTraining and project orientation providedMust be a current or future SAIT student that is actively registered in a program during employment. Proof of registration will be required prior to hiringAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the members of the research team and community contactsDemonstrated ability to ask questions and listen attentively with accuracy for detailAbility to work independently and as a member of a teamExcellent English verbal and written skillsProficiency in operating a computer with various Microsoft Office applications and videoconferencing software such as ZoomPreference given to candidates with related research experienceA post-secondary degree is an asset but not requiredWe sincerely thank all applicants for their interest in this opportunity.
