In this senior leadership role, you'll guide complex mine waste projects, influence sustainable outcomes, and mentor the next generation of engineers—delivering solutions that matter to communities and the environment.Your ImpactDesign and evaluate tailings storage facilities, waste rock dumps, and integrated water management systems with safety and sustainability at the forefrontLead geotechnical and hydrogeological investigations to support critical project and business decisionsProvide strategic input into permitting, environmental planning, and risk management frameworksOversee projects from concept through execution, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across Canada and globallyMentor and develop junior and intermediate engineers, fostering technical excellence and career growthChampion creative mine waste management strategies and sustainable mining practicesBuild trusted client relationships and support business development initiativesRepresent WSP in client engagements, regulatory discussions, and industry forumsQualifications10–15 years of progressive experience in mine waste, tailings, or geotechnical engineeringBachelor's or Master's degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Geological EngineeringProfessional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in CanadaDemonstrated expertise in tailings dam design, closure planning,
and risk‐based decision‐makingProven leadership experience managing teams and delivering complex, multidisciplinary projectsStrong understanding of permitting, environmental, and regulatory processes in the mining sectorA passion for mentorship, innovation, and advancing sustainable engineering solutionsCompensationAB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $135,200 – $179,100MB & ON: $123,300 – $169,800NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $122,100 – $162,200Disclosure: The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
