Team members join a culture that values professionalism, collaboration, and pride in maintaining a premier golf facility.Vancouver Golf Club is seeking an experienced and passionate Director of Agronomy & Grounds to lead the stewardship, maintenance, and continual enhancement of our championship golf course and surrounding grounds.This senior leadership role will be responsible for overseeing all golf course and grounds operations, including turfgrass management, irrigation systems, course conditioning, landscaping, equipment maintenance, environmental stewardship, and long-term capital improvement initiatives. The Director of Agronomy & Grounds plays a central role in delivering exceptional course conditions while preserving the natural beauty, sustainability, and prestige of Vancouver Golf Club.The Director of Agronomy serves as a visible member of the senior leadership team, collaborating closely with the General Manager/COO and Director of Golf to align agronomic programs while championing a Member-first philosophy, ensuring outstanding playing conditions, strategic course improvements, and a safe, collaborative, and high-performing grounds operation.Key Areas of ResponsibilitiesProvide strategic leadership for all golf course and grounds operations to ensure alignment with the Club's vision, agronomic philosophy, and long-term strategic plan. Continuously enhancing course conditioning through innovative agronomic practices, technology, and operational improvements. Develop and implement short and long-term maintenance plans that deliver exceptional playing conditions while supporting environmental sustainability. Maintain a visible presence on the golf course, fostering strong relationships with Members and guests.Oversee all aspects of golf course maintenance including greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, practice facilities, landscaping, and clubhouse grounds. Develop and execute comprehensive turfgrass management programs including grass fertility, irrigation, aeration, pest management, and seasonal maintenance. Ensure consistent, championship-calibre playing conditions throughout the golf season.Member Experience & Course PresentationChampion a member-centric culture focused on exceptional golf course conditions and outstanding presentation. Engage regularly with Members to gather feedback and communicate agronomic practices,



maintenance schedules, and course improvement initiatives. Collaborate with Golf Operations to ensure the course consistently exceeds Member expectations and provides an exceptional golfing experience.Environmental Stewardship & SustainabilityProvide leadership in environmental stewardship through responsible water management, integrated pest management, nutrient management, and sustainable agronomic practices. Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations while identifying opportunities to improve sustainability and resource efficiency.Capital Projects & InfrastructureLead the planning and execution of golf course improvement projects, irrigation upgrades, drainage improvements, equipment replacement, and infrastructure investments. Partner with the General Manager and Greens Committee to develop long-term capital plans that enhance course quality, playability, and operational efficiency.Leadership & Team DevelopmentMentor a high-performing Grounds Maintenance team. Provide leadership to supervisors and employees responsible for golf course maintenance, equipment management, irrigation, and landscaping. Foster a positive, collaborative, and safety-focused workplace culture while supporting employee training, certification, succession planning, and professional development.Develop and manage annual operating and capital budgets for Agronomy and Grounds. Monitor labour costs, equipment utilization, materials, irrigation expenses, and purchasing to ensure fiscal responsibility. Implement effective inventory controls, equipment lifecycle planning, and operational efficiencies while maintaining exceptional course conditions.Governance & ComplianceEnsure compliance with workplace health and safety legislation, environmental regulations, pesticide management requirements, and industry best practices.
