About the role

Clutch is seeking its inaugural Staff Platform Engineer to establish and lead our internal platform strategy. You will design the infrastructure and developer workflows that allow our engineering organization to operate with greater speed, safety, and scale.

- Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid, 3 days per week in office)
- Engagement: Permanent Full-Time

What you'll do

- Create and implement the company platform engineering roadmap.
- Develop an internal developer platform to increase productivity via self-service tools.
- Manage the architecture and advancement of deployment pipelines and CI/CD systems.
- Architect and scale cloud environments using Terraform, AWS, and GitHub Actions.
- Enhance engineering velocity by automating manual tasks and refining infrastructure.
- Set organizational standards for observability, security, reliability, and operational excellence.

Requirements

- Minimum 8 years of professional experience in DevOps, platform engineering, or building developer tooling at scale.
- Previous tenure as a Staff Engineer, Technical Lead, or senior contributor guiding technical strategy across multiple teams.
- Extensive proficiency with Docker, AWS, Terraform,



and up-to-date CI/CD frameworks.
- Strong programming background with ability to build tools in Go, Python, JavaScript, or similar languages.
- Demonstrated success in designing deployment systems or developer platforms.
- Capability to solve systemic technical challenges with long-term, scalable solutions.
- High-level written communication skills for influencing technical leadership and engineering staff.
- Ability to thrive in a high-growth startup environment with significant autonomy.

Nice to have

- Background with monorepo tooling.
- Experience with feature flagging systems.
- Prior work designing an internal developer platform.
