Want to play a part of innovating and optimizing the mining life cycle on greenfield and brownfield facilities?The Mechanical Engineer will be part of an project delivery team providing engineering services to large and small projects. The Mechanical Engineer is broadly responsible for establishing system requirements, performing functional analyses, defining design criteria, preparing engineering calculations, technical specifications, data sheets and reports. In addition, the Mechanical Engineer is required to develop, or provide input into, 3D models and 2D drawings. The Mechanical Engineer reports to the Lead Mechanical Engineer on a large project and to the Project Manager or the Engineering Manager on a small project.The Mechanical Engineer may supervise junior engineers, intermediate engineers, designers, technicians and technologists on a project. The Mechanical Engineer is expected to mentor young engineers as part of their career development programs.You will bring to the role:Assist in defining project scopeAssist the Engineering Manager/Lead Mechanical Engineer with the delivery of project requirements as they relate to scope,



cost and schedulePerform system analyses, establish user requirements, analyze system functional and performance requirements, define design criteria, and establish system layouts and designsPrepare engineering calculations such as hydraulic modeling, stress analysis, equipment sizing and tank, pressure vessel and bin design and ensuring that all analyses satisfy user and system requirementsPrepare technical specifications based on input received from other disciplinesConduct interface management between related systemsPrepare data sheets based on input received from other disciplinesPrepare and contribute to technical memos and reports, within areas of expertiseProvide input to engineering, operating and capital cost estimatesPrepare and/or review project standard specifications and design criteriaPrepare or provide input to 3D models and 2D mechanical drawingsParticipate in and contribute to design reviewsCarry out assigned tasks within budget and scheduleStamp documents and drawings as required and if appropriately registeredManage small capital and maintenance projectsAssist in preparing proposalsReview and evaluate technical work prepared by junior engineers, intermediate engineers, designers, technicians and technologistsAssist in the compilation and delivery of monthly engineering status reportsConstruction supervision and management dependent upon project demandsAssist in the commissioning of systems on site as required.Qualifications and ExperienceEssentialBSc/BEng in mechanical engineering.Registration as a professional engineer. Alternatively,



registration as a candidate professional engineer actively working towards professional registration.Minimum 10 years project engineering experience.Good communication and interpersonal skills.Good planning and organizational skills.Ability to function with minimal supervision.Working knowledge of industry standards, regulations and codes pertinent to the mechanical engineering discipline.Ability to function as a member of a multidisciplinary team and coordinate mechanical activities between disciplines.Safety awareness.Base Salary Range: $115,000 - $165,000At Hatch, we are committed to fair and equitable compensation practices.
