To learn more about Uptime Industrial and the core values that shape our company today, visit https://www.Uptimeindustrial.Com/about/.About The RoleReporting to the General Manager, the Industrial Controls Manager will lead Uptime Industrial's growing Industrial Controls team and oversee the successful delivery of industrial automation projects from estimating and design through commissioning and project closeout. This role provides technical direction, develops departmental processes, supports project execution, and mentors a team of controls professionals while ensuring projects are accurately estimated and delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.Department LeadershipLead, mentor, and develop the Industrial Controls team, including Lead Controls Engineers, Controls Engineers, and Controls TechniciansFoster a collaborative, safety-focused, and high-performance team cultureSupport recruitment, onboarding, performance management, coaching, and employee developmentIdentify training opportunities and build technical capabilities across the teamDevelop and monitor departmental KPIs and continuous improvement initiativesProject DeliveryOversee the successful execution of industrial controls and automation projects from estimating through commissioningAllocate resources and manage team workloads to meet project schedules and customer expectationsProvide technical guidance on electrical control systems, PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, industrial networking, and automation systemsReview engineering designs, electrical drawings, panel layouts, bills of materials,



and technical documentationSupport Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), startup, and commissioning activities as requiredEnsure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to company quality standardsEstimating & Financial OversightPrepare, review, and approve estimates for industrial controls and automation projectsReview project scopes, specifications, and customer requirementsApprove change orders and technical proposalsMonitor project budgets, labour utilization, and departmental performanceSupport forecasting, resource planning, and operational improvementsTechnical LeadershipEstablish engineering standards, best practices, and quality assurance processesProvide technical expertise for PLC programming, HMI development, SCADA systems, industrial networking, and electrical control panel designTroubleshoot complex control system issues and provide escalation support to project teamsEnsure compliance with applicable electrical codes, safety regulations, and customer specificationsCross-Functional CollaborationPartner with various internal and external stakeholders across multiple trades and disciplines to ensure the successful planning, execution, and delivery of industrial automation projectsProvide technical support during proposal development and project planningBuild strong relationships with customers through technical excellence and responsive serviceWhat You BringThe ideal candidate is an experienced industrial controls leader with a strong technical background in automation, electrical control systems, and project delivery. You are a collaborative leader who enjoys working alongside others and building strong relationships across multiple trades, disciplines, and customer teams. You have a proven ability to lead and develop high-performing technical teams while managing projects from estimating through commissioning.



You are confident providing technical guidance, making sound decisions, and fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. Above all, you lead by example, support those around you, and are committed to delivering exceptional results for both your team and your customers.Our Must HavesDegree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, Systems Design, or a related disciplineMinimum 10 years of progressive experience in industrial controls, automation, or electrical engineeringPrevious experience in a formal people management role leading, coaching, and developing engineering or technical teams of three (3) or more employeesStrong experience estimating industrial controls and automation projectsExtensive knowledge of PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Omron), HMIs, SCADA systems, industrial networking, and electrical control systemsExperience with AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar electrical design softwareExperience supporting FAT, SAT, startup, and commissioning activitiesStrong communication, leadership, project management, and problem-solving skillsExperience in manufacturing, food processing, forestry, mining, utilities, or industrial processing environments is considered an assetYour RewardsOur most important offering to anyone that joins the Uptime Industrial team is our culture of innovation, achievement, and ownership.
