RQ11170 - Int. Systems Testing/QA Specialist

11-month contract – possible extension

On‑site, 5 days a week, 222 Jarvis St

Must Have

- Solid experience with triaging defects, participating and leading triage meetings, and producing defect summary reports.
- Extensive experience performing regression testing, manually and with automation scripts.
- 5–10 years of experience with a range of testing types: black‑box testing, penetration testing, security testing, system testing, unit testing, AODA, and UAT testing.
- Extensive experience preparing detailed test cases and execution plans.
- Hands‑on experience with defect tracking tools such as Azure DevOps.
- 5–10 years of hands‑on experience with BRD activities.

Nice to Have

- Prior OPS or public sector experience.
- Contact centre experience.
- Experience with development tools such as Java and AngularJS.
- Bi‑lingual testing experience.
- Experience with Screen Readers, syntax checking tools, colour‑contrast tools, and browser utilities.
- Experience with HTML5, WAI‑ARIA tags, UX and front‑end development.

Responsibilities

- Provide advice on testing strategy, test plans, testing tools, and resource identification.
- Plan and organize testing for large GUI and non‑GUI systems, including integration tests, specialized tests, and user acceptance testing.
- Develop test plans, scripts, and cases; execute them across components.
- Execute functional, integration, system, and regression tests.
- Validate system behavior under various conditions.
- Identify, document, and track software defects using ALM, JIRA, Bugzilla, or Azure DevOps.
- Work closely with developers to reproduce and resolve issues.




- Develop and maintain automated test scripts using UFT, Selenium, TestComplete, Postman, or similar tools.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
- Conduct performance, stress, and load testing to ensure system capacity.
- Apply knowledge of AODA and related regulations.
- Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and project managers to clarify requirements.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand‑ups, and retrospectives.
- Maintain documentation of test results, coverage, and quality metrics.
- Provide input for user manuals and release notes.
- Ensure testing processes comply with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

General Skills

- Planning, organizing, and implementing testing efforts at an advanced level.
- Knowledge of structured methodologies for application development and testing.
- Experience with CASE and data query tools to support test case development.
- Proficiency with automated test tools and version control systems.
- Execution of functional, non‑functional, and integration tests.
- Support for UAT activities.
- Application of quality assurance principles, tools, and structured methodologies.
- Creation of testing strategy documentation for all testing phases.




- Experience across the Systems Development Life Cycle.
- Robust analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.

- Knowledge of automated testing tools.
- Understanding of system, integration, regression, and acceptance testing.
- Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall methodologies.
- Ability to write clear, comprehensive test cases.
- Experience with ALM, JIRA, Bugzilla, TestRail, and Zephyr.
- Familiarity with Selenium, Cypress, or Postman for API testing.
- Understanding of scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript, and Bash.
- Skill in writing queries for data validation and backend testing.
- Basic security testing and collaboration with security specialists.
- Management of robust test data strategies and environments.
- Validation of data integrity, consistency, and accuracy across systems.
- Experience with performance testing tools like JMeter or LoadRunner.

Desirable Skills

- Proficiency in at least one programming language.
- Experience with information retrieval packages.
- Knowledge of object‑oriented testing methods.
- Understanding of information management principles and policies.
- Knowledge of AODA regulations and standards.
- Planning and organization of testing for systems of varying scale.
- Automation scripting to generate automated test cases.
- Experience testing commercial off‑the‑shelf (COTS) applications.

Rates

- Inc. hourly rate: $56.19/hr – $60.21/hr (7.25 billable hours per day)
- T4 hourly rate: $44.95/hr – $48.17/hr (7.25 billable hours per day)
