Job DescriptionStep into a senior technical leadership role delivering complex mine water and surface water projects across Western Canada. As part of the Mine Water & Environment – West team, you will play a critical role in shaping project outcomes, advising clients, mentoring engineers, and contributing to the continued growth of WSP's mining water practice.LocationsFlexible across Alberta and British Columbia.Your ImpactLead complex mine water and surface water projects from conceptual planning through detailed design and construction supportDevelop and review site-wide mine water management strategies, including water balances and climate resilience considerationsDeliver hydrologic and hydraulic assessments supporting mine operations, infrastructure, and closure planningDesign and oversee surface water conveyance and control infrastructure such as channels, culverts, diversions, spillways, and pondsIntegrate mine infrastructure, tailings, and water management systems into cohesive, defensible solutionsProvide senior technical oversight and serve as a Qualified Professional where applicableBuild trusted client relationships and contribute to proposals, pursuits, and strategic growth initiativesMentor engineers and strengthen technical standards, best practices, and safety culture across the teamThe Skills That Set You ApartBachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related disciplineProfessional Engineer (P.Eng.)



registration in at least one Canadian province (multi-province registration is an asset)Typically 12+ years of consulting experience in water resources engineering, with strong mining exposureDemonstrated leadership on complex, multidisciplinary mine water and surface water projectsAdvanced expertise in hydrology, hydraulics, mine water management, and surface water infrastructure designExperience engaging directly with mining clients and regulators as a senior technical advisorProficiency with hydrologic and hydraulic modelling tools (e.G., HEC‐RAS, PCSWMM, MIKE, SWMM or similar)Strong technical judgement, mentoring capability, and collaborative leadership mindsetCompensationAB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $122,900 – $162,800MB & ON: $112,100 – $154,400NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $111,000 – $147,400Principal Professional – AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $147,500 – $195,400Principal Professional – MB & ON: $134,600 – $184,600Principal Qualified – NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $133,200 – $176,900Senior Principal Professional – AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $177,000 – $234,400Senior Principal Professional – MB & ON: $161,500 – $222,300Senior Principal Professional – NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $159,900 – $212,300Ready to Shape the FutureJoin WSP and help advance sustainable, resilient mine water solutions across Western Canada.Equal OpportunityWSP welcomes and encourages applications from people with disabilities.
