In this role, you'll work alongside a dedicated team to create a welcoming environment where every child—regardless of their needs—can thrive.You will design and actively participate in activities, provide individualized support as needed, help children navigate conflicts, and model positive behaviours. You'll also contribute to care plans, support each child's unique strengths, maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios, and ensure a safe, inclusive space where every child feels valued and supported.This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact in children's daily experiences while helping foster a strong sense of belonging and growth.Major ResponsibilitiesSupport the development and delivery of high-quality, age-appropriate programs (ages 5-12) aligned with YMCA standards, A Place to Connect curriculum, and all legislative requirements.Design and lead engaging indoor and outdoor activities that promote learning, wellness, and inclusionProvide direct supervision, guidance, and mentorship to new staff and volunteers, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environmentBuild and maintain positive relationships with children, families, staff,



and community partners to ensure exceptional service deliveryCommunicate effectively with participants and partners while supporting organization-wide initiatives and fundraising efforts.Create and sustain a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment that promotes belonging, confidence, and positive self-esteem in childrenConsistently maintain active supervision and engagement while ensuring full compliance with YMCA, Child Care Licensing (CCFL), health, safety, and legal requirementsInteract directly with children to deliver child-centered programming, support positive behaviour, and guide conflict resolution.Provide individualized support to children, including contributing to the development and implementation of care plans and maintaining enhanced ratios where requiredCollaborate with team members to implement inclusive practices and support children with diverse needs to fully participate in programming.Monitor and maintain program spaces to ensure they are clean, safe, organized, and professional, including activity areas and washrooms.Prepare and serve nutritious snacks in accordance with health and safety guidelinesMaintain strict confidentiality of all information related to children, families, staff, and operationsQualificationMust be at least 19 years of age.Bring experience working with children ages 5–12 and are passionate about delivering engaging, high-quality programsAre confident planning and leading inclusive indoor and outdoor activities that support learning and developmentAble to build strong, respectful relationships with children, families, colleagues, schools and community partnersComfortable working in a fast-paced environment, with a strong track record of reliability and commitmentUnderstand (or are willing to learn) YMCA standards, Child Care Licensing (CCFL),
