Located on the shores of Georgian Bay, we serve some of the most complex and disadvantaged individuals in Ontario and are the sole provider of high-secure forensic mental health services in the province.The Clinical Manager of the Horizon Program for Specialty Geriatrics is currently looking for a Temporary Full-time Registered Nurse.The Registered Nurse position provides mental health nursing care, physical assessment and related care required to patients within a specialized inter-professional clinical program.Providing leadership in the provision of nursing services within the nursing and inter-professional teams especially in circumstances when the patient’s condition is more complex and the outcomes of patient care are unpredictableAssessing patient condition and needs based on interviews, interaction and direct observation; developing and implementing therapeutic patient treatment/care/discharge plansDeveloping therapeutic nurse-patient relationships utilizing nursing and other theoretical or practice frameworks i.E. psychosocial rehabilitation, counselling, health teaching, administering and monitoring medication, and teaching life skills in preparation for community reintegrationObserving, assessing, recording,



and reporting patient condition; evaluating progress andmodifying plans as appropriate; assessing patientrisk to self and/or others; participating in quality improvement activities to facilitate changes in nursing practice and inter-qualified careContributing to a safe, therapeutic environment through adherence to the College of Nurses of Ontario Standards, program/facility-wide policies and procedures, including mandatory training.REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:Current registration in good standing as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of OntarioValid certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) with Oxygen Therapy (OT) and Airway Management (AM).Specialized education/training in dual diagnosis considered an assetDemonstrated knowledge of and/or experience with medical and mental health nursing theory and practiceDemonstrated knowledge of and/or experience with medication practices, side effects, and current treatment modalities, knowledge of mental health medications an assetRecent mental health nursing in a mental health facility or service is preferred, including familiarity with the recovery philosophy, and trauma informed careExperience with patient safety including emergency patient care proceduresResults oriented work ethic to workindependently and undertake tasks needed to accomplish work objectives and deliver quality, consistent and timely resultsDemonstrated leadership, conflict resolution, interpersonal and organizational skillsProven written and verbal communication skillsProven ability to adapt readily to changeModels and promotes core ethical practice, Waypoint Values (Caring, Respect, Accountability, Innovation), and reflects an optimistic and positive attitudePreference for proficiency in French/English languageWHAT WE OFFER:Includes 6% in lieu of vacation to start and 14% in lieu of benefits OR 10% if enrolling in HOOPPParticipation in the employee referral programAccess to Waypoint’s Employee & Family Assistance Program (EFAP)#J-18808-Ljbffr
