Large Canadian general contractor, is seeking an experienced a Construction Director to join their growing team focusing on exciting transformative major infrastructure projects in Vancouver BC. Salary $300k+ plus benefits plus annual bonus. Outpost Recruitment is excited to work with our client on this full-time permanent role.As a Construction Director you will use your proven experience and technical expertise and be a leader in construction and project management, delivery and excellence. Working on large-scale infrastructure projects up to $1 billion – you will have the opportunity to use your solution focused and team-oriented attitude to lead a collaborative team of construction professionals.Responsibilities, Experience, Skills of Construction Director:Project DevelopmentAssist in securing new work through participation in bidding and proposal teamsProject Management- Responsible for delivery against all budget, schedule & quality targetsConstruction OperationsSafety. Establish safety, team, systems and procedures and ensure a secure work environment for everyone involved in the project.Schedule. Develop, monitor and make decisions to ensure project is delivered on schedule.Quality, ensuring key metrics and KPI's are established and targets are consistently achieved.Responsible for all aspects of project close outCommercial ManagementEnsure teams understand and protect JV interests under the Prime ContractEnsure teams have a process to efficiently and effectively process change ordersFinancial / cash flow managementIdentifies risks and implements mitigation and contingency plansResults.
Ensure everyone on the project has a commercial mindset to deliver the project at or exceeding budget.Stakeholder ManagementCreate and maintain excellent relationships with all stakeholdersThe client, architects, engineering firms, etc.Joint venture partnersGovernment, the public, special interest groupsPeople ManagementCreates and maintains a culture and environment that is open and respectfulHire, supervise, coach and mentor project personnelEnsure project has capacity and expert capability is in all engineering, procurement and construction activitiesExpertise in required functional areas: Design management, Project Controls, Procurement, Contract Management, Quality, Commercial Management)Communicates with Sr. Management to ensure adequate resources are providedEnsure the project as required staffing and succession plansCommunicationBuilds engagement through ongoing communicates to all staff and stakeholdersProvide all required project reporting / forecastingExecutive ResponsibilityAmbassador to employees, the client, partners the public and executive leadership.Required Knowledge and Experience of Construction DirectorBachelor's Degree in Civil engineering or similar.A minimum of 20 years of construction leadership experience on complex major projects,
with a proven track record of delivering commercial success.In depth expertise in civil construction with a solid understanding of rail systems.In depth experience in working with complex contractual agreements and project financing3+ years' experience working on complex rail projects, stationsThe proven ability to successfully manage large and complex construction projects through the full project lifecycleExperience working on projects with international joint venture partnersThorough knowledge of change management principles including identifying significant variations, claims identification, narration, quantification and evaluationProven track record with claims management and dispute resolution on major projectsExperience with risk identification and managementExperience in liaising with client, subcontractor and consultant representativesThe proven ability to effectively recruit and build teams and manage senior project staffSound understanding of contractual, commercial and financial functions on major projectsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills.Fluency in English is required (oral and written)RequirementsDesign build experience on major projects ($1bn+)Joint Venture experienceMinimum 10 years of transportation / public buildings, Healthcare etc. experience20 years ofconstructionexperienceBuildings & civil / infrastructure experience idealCompensation:$300k+ plus annual bonus plus excellent bonusUnique career opportunity within a progressive setting with continuous learning and opportunity for growth, as well as a competitive compensation package.An equal opportunity employer.
