general ledger, fixed assets, and job/cost accountingOverseeing project accounting, including WIP reporting, job-cost analysis, holdbacks, progress billings, and revenue recognitionLeading month-end close and producing accurate, timely financial statements and management reportsPreparing and filing monthly HST and coordinating year-end working papers and corporate tax filings with external accountantsMaintaining and strengthening documented accounting policies, procedures, and internal controlsLeading the annual budgeting process and maintaining rolling cash-flow and financial forecastsOverseeing the financial accuracy and reconciliation of payroll, partnering with HRProviding financial oversight of corporate insurance and fleet expendituresProviding financial analysis to support ownership on project performance, pricing, and purchasing decisionsLeading the finance workstream for a recent construction ERP implementationWhat We're Looking For5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, including meaningful experience in general contracting or construction managementPost-secondary education in Accounting or FinanceCPA designation strongly preferred; candidates without one may be considered with substantial hands-on Controller-level construction experienceDemonstrated experience leading, mentoring, and reviewing the work of accounting staffStrong Excel skills and comfort across the Microsoft Office suiteExperience with construction or accounting software such as Premier, Procore, Jonas, CMiC, or Sage is an assetA clear communicator who can translate financial information into practical insights for ownership and operational leadersHighly organized, detail-oriented, and calm under deadlinesA self-starter with a collaborative, roll-up-your-sleeves attitudeCompensation & Work ModelCompensation is competitive and will be discussed during the screening process.
