The Group Reinsurance Solutions Team is responsible for developing creative, custom‑tailored reinsurance solutions for Group benefits in the Canadian and Caribbean Markets and collaborating with our clients to help manage profitably and grow their business.
Your Role
Client Support
- Responds to client requests related to quotes and renewals of group insurance contracts.
- Takes an active role in ensuring retention of all treaties as part of client quotes and renewals. Approves or recommends changes or alternatives to client suggestions when needed.
- Conducts underwriting reviews, provides recommendations and comments, prepares audit reports.
- Addresses client needs in a timely, proactive and professional manner, advising senior management of any business issues impacting Munich Re and/or the client, making recommendations and taking action to resolve concerns.
- Drafts treaties and amendments.
- Reviews, proposes and approves changes to Group Underwriting guidelines and practices of clients.
Support of Business Lines
- Prepares quote proposals, provides required analysis, and develops recommendations and solutions that maximize growth and profitability.
- Provides Group underwriting expertise in the development and amendment of reinsurance treaties.
- Works on the maintenance of Group pricing basis and service offers for all markets.
- Provides knowledge and support to other team members including actuarial staff, medical underwriting, claims and senior management, assisting them in managing client relationships.
- Prepares reports on operations and activities of the team and business.
Research and Development
- Acquires and maintains advanced knowledge of product and market trends, current industry issues, relevant legislation changes and underwriting best practices.
- Develops and maintains Group underwriting tools and methodologies, manuals,
guidelines, market databases and comparative reports.
- Supports research, development and implementation of new products, benefits, features and distribution strategies.
- Maintains a high profile within the underwriting community and develops a network of contacts to gain market intelligence, promote the company’s expertise and influence industry practices and procedures.
Your Profile
- University Degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics or Finance.
- 7+ years of in‑depth knowledge and experience in the Canadian and/or Group Life and Health (re)insurance industry.
- Fluency in English required; French is an asset.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving and business acumen with a proactive, goal‑oriented approach.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships.
- Highly organized with superior attention to detail; able to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast‑paced, performance‑driven environment.
- Decisive and confident in making tough decisions while fostering collaboration and challenging appropriately.
- Demonstrated ability to work under tight deadlines and deliver accurate, high‑quality results.
