The role is primarily delivered through community outreach and includes educational services to community care networks.Detailed OverviewUnder the direction of the Team Coordinator, the Mental Health Clinician/Behavioural Consultant provides case management, applied behavioural analysis/behavioural intervention, individual/group counselling services and consultation to clients with concurrent developmental disability/psychiatric disorders, working within a community interdisciplinary mental health team and primarily on a community outreach basis. Duties also include the provision of educational in‐services to community care networks and participation in evaluation of process and outcomes to ensure continuing quality of service.ResponsibilitiesConduct functional assessments, gather relevant psychosocial history, conduct in‐vivo behavioural observation, and utilize ABC charting and other appropriate behavioural data gathering techniques. Analyze and synthesize data to develop behavioural intervention plans and provide training to families and caregivers where appropriate.Develop and deliver time‐limited, evidence‐based individual and group counselling using techniques appropriate for individuals living with developmental disability or psychiatric disorders.Collaborate with team members during initial psychiatric assessments, assess client progress, and follow up on the implementation and re‐evaluation of behavioural strategies with interdisciplinary team members and client support networks.Perform case reviews, evaluate processes,



and prepare reports of relevant observations to ensure continuity of quality service and effective communication.Attend and participate in meetings regarding clients, including assessments, case reviews, progress meetings, and internal/external case conferences.Coordinate assessment, intervention, and follow‐up for a caseload of clients with concurrent psychiatric disorder and developmental disability.Assist interdisciplinary team members in program development, including preparation, prioritizing, scheduling, and arranging for space and resources.Support family members and care providers with up‐to‐date clinical information and recommend community resources.Maintain client files according to established standards, procedures, and protocols.Perform general public relations duties such as community education regarding client population.Perform other related duties as required.QualificationsEducation and ExperienceMaster's Degree in Clinical Counselling, Psychology, Social Work, or another relevant health‐related discipline.Two (2) years recent experience providing direct behavioural therapy and counseling support to children or adults with mental illness or developmental disability, including one (1) year of independent (post‐Master's) practice or an equivalent combination of training and experience.Eligibility for registration with the relevant professional association.Valid Class V BC Driver's Licence and possession of a personal vehicle.Skills and AbilitiesDemonstrated skills in behavioural assessment and in developing, implementing, and evaluating behavioural treatment programs.Demonstrated skills related to provision of individual and group therapy/counselling.Leadership in care planning within complex client situations.Ability to work in complex environments.Analytical and problem‐solving skills.Positive presentation and public speaking skills.Ability to observe and record objective data.Proficiency in using computers and applicable software applications.Organizational, prioritization, and caseload management skills.Effective verbal and written communication skills.Ability to work effectively with others.Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.Ability to operate related equipment. #J-18808-Ljbffr
