As a wholly‐owned subsidiary of MDA Space, 49North operates as a sovereign Canadian provider of mission‐critical C4ISR systems.RoleSenior Systems Engineer – Electronic Warfare (EW) Systems EngineerJob DescriptionThe Senior Systems Engineer will work as part of a dynamic systems engineering team that will mature the EW system design and support procurement of EW subsystems through all design phases, including Factory Acceptance Testing, integration, and final acceptance trials. Excellent communication and leadership skills are necessary to work closely within our distributed team, the customer, suppliers, and external stakeholders. The role requires a blend of systems engineering discipline, EW systems knowledge, and operational mission awareness.Location: Richmond, B.C.; Ottawa, ON.; or Halifax, N.S.ResponsibilitiesWork independently and collaboratively with a multi‐disciplinary dispersed teamDevelop relationships with customers, contractors, and subcontractorsSupport AW supplier procurements through the subcontracts managerProduce and review technical documents, specifications, and standards, including system requirements, interface and design documentsTravel domestically and internationally to support program needsSupport the project team in addressing design and integration issuesActively participate in program and test reviewsSupport the development and allocation of system‐level requirementsReview, develop, and document system‐level operational concepts and mission statementsGenerate documents such as design reports and technical deliverablesPerform system engineering lifecycle functions including compatibility,



interoperability, human factors, cyber‐security, modelling and simulation, and verification and testingModel and simulate system performance and RF interference/integration into mission platforms and other platform sensorsSupport system/product integrationVerify and validate system designs to ensure conformance with functional specifications and customer requirementsRequirementsExperience working in well‐structured systems engineering teamsExperience in large electronic systems development or integration projects, preferably with Electronic Warfare systems, and a strong understanding of project execution processes from requirements through commissioning and supportExperience maintaining close working relationships with other system engineers and customer representatives in a distributed environmentExcellent verbal and written communication and customer interaction skillsStrong problem‐solving skillsEnthusiastic contributor willing to learn new skills and take pride and ownership of workPreferred Experience and SkillsExperience with the design and development of Electronic Warfare systems, including environmental qualification, human factors,



and maritime certificationsKnowledge of advanced antenna technologies and performanceAbility to model antenna performance for received and transmitted signalsAbility to analyze and model atmospheric propagation of RF signalsUnderstanding of antenna patterns, polarization, bandwidth, beamwidth, and the RF chainUnderstanding of radar and missile system employment and capabilitiesUnderstanding of radar and laser warning receivers, SIGINT sensors, countermeasure systems, and signal processing techniquesHighly proficient with MS Office applications and engineering tools such as DOORS, Confluence/Jira, and CAMEOKnowledge of agile or iterative development methodsAbility to work with and uphold classified informationSecurity ClearanceSuccessful candidates must obtain and hold a secret‐level security clearance, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.Benefits49North provides competitive compensation and advantages packages at all locations, including extended healthcare, flexible drug plans, dental and vision benefits, disability income protection, life insurance, group retirement savings plans, and an employee and family assistance program.CompensationThe compensation range for this position is $108,000.00–$148,500.00 annually.
