Learn more about BMT at www.Bmt.Org.Key ResponsibilitiesThe Team Lead Naval Architecture (NA) is responsible for assisting the NA Capability Manager by leading a portion of the NA Team in either Halifax/Ottawa/Victoria.Supports the Capability Manager and may perform management duties when the Manager is absent or out of office.Manage work assignments/allocations for direct reports, including negotiations with PMs & implementing resulting ERP updates (or replacement tool).Review/approve timesheets for direct reports.Conduct performance personnel reviews for direct reports, including establishment of Personal Development Plans (PDPs).Establish and maintain recurring one-on-one meetings with direct reports.Provides encouragement to team members, including communicating team goals and identifying areas for new training or skill checks.Assists the Capability Manager with hiring processes (e.G., conduct candidate screening, first round interviews, etc.) and new team member training.Assist Capability Manager with Department strategies and initiatives.Answers team member questions, helps with team member problems,



and oversees team member work for quality and guideline compliance.Supports the Capability Manager to develop strategies to promote team members to meet the company performance goals.Conducts team meetings to update team members on best practices and continuing expectations.Other duties assigned by the Capability Manager.Skills, Knowledge & ExpertiseEssential:Degree in Marine Engineering or Naval ArchitectureMinimum 10 years of experience in Naval ArchitectureExisting registration or ability to obtain registration with Professional Engineering governance body in Province of workEligible for a Canadian security clearanceDemonstrated team leadership experienceExperience within the marine, naval, defense or government sectorsStrong verbal and written communication skillsExperience participating in recruitment and interviewing processesSelf-motivated with the ability to work independentlyStrong relationship-building and stakeholder management skillsComfortable present and briefing senior leaders and executivesWhy Work for Us?At BMT we believe in hiring the best talent, from diverse backgrounds, as this introduces new ideas to the team and our customers.
