Calgary Co-op Pharmacy Assistant position reports to the Pharmacy Manager and assists with dispensing prescriptions and administrative duties to increase the pharmacist's opportunity to provide patient care.
Responsibilities
- Follow the customer care and service standards of the Calgary Co-op.
- Interact with customers and employees in a positive manner to enhance services and create a healthy work workplace.
- Assist in the operation of the Pharmacy Department within the guidelines of the Alberta Pharmaceutical Association and the policies and procedures of the Calgary Co-op.
- Utilize a high degree of concentration when assisting in filling prescriptions, ensuring attentiveness to detail and accuracy.
- Assist the pharmacist in the preparation of prescriptions.
- Help manage dispensary inventories, including ordering, receiving, rotating stock and supplies, returning outdated and unsaleable products, and assisting in inventory counts.
- Assist with current merchandising practices when not occupied with prescription duties.
- Be familiar with departmental objectives and exercise a high level of responsibility toward achieving them.
- Know all merchandise carried in the department and stay aware of new products and trends in the pharmaceutical and retail industry.
- Assist in proper care and maintenance of pharmacy equipment.
- Be aware of, and informed about, Calgary Co-op policies, guidelines, procedures, and approved practices.
- Perform general housekeeping duties and maintain the department's appearance.
- Work with the Pharmacy Manager to develop a detailed annual performance plan using the approved Position Descriptions.
- Assist in special projects as required.
- Focus on continuous improvement in all responsibilities using creativity and common sense.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 education or acceptable combination of experience and education.
- Pass the Calgary Co-op Pharmacy Assistant test.
- Completed a recognized Pharmacy Assistant Program (preferred).
- Two (2) years of dispensing experience (desirable).
