Job OverviewWe are looking for a Structures Design Manager to join our global team of experts and manage and coordinate a functional team that is responsible for performing engineering analysis, design, and technical reports and drawings for heavy civil structures.In this role, you will be responsible for working with multidisciplinary teams and effectively managing and delivering your own tasks in terms of budget, quality, and timelines.Initially, this position specifically supports COWI's role as the Owner's Engineer (OE) for the new Fraser River Tunnel Project (FRTP). The FRTP project will replace the existing Massey Tunnel between Richmond and Delta, near Vancouver, BC. The ideal candidate will be the Design Manager for the cut and cover tunnels and industrial structures packages. In this role, the Design Manager will support the FRTP Project Manager in coordinating with the Client, Designer, Independent Reviewer, and the broader COWI team.The position will require solid design management and technical skills and will provide opportunities to grow and develop leadership skills.The position will be based in COWI's North Vancouver office, and a significant portion of the time is expected to be spent in the Client's project office, located in downtown Vancouver.Your key responsibilities will be to:Coordinate the work of the cut and cover tunnel and industrial structures team for COWI as part of the FRTP projectCollaborate closely with the Client, OE Team, Designer, Independent Reviewer, and other Stakeholders during the projectAct as the Client Design Manager,



responsible for delivery of the cut and cover tunnel and industrial structures packages.Act as Client liaison to deliver progress reporting of package delivery relative to a defined schedule and budget.Collaborate with multi-disciplinary groups to develop and deliver integrated projects. Manage interfaces between packages and other project teams.Convene and chair design management meetings between COWI's OE team, the Design team, and Independent Review team.Ensure adherence to quality systems and effective communication with internal and external stakeholdersContribute to production, review, and approval of design deliverables such as technical memoranda, design reports, and construction drawingsProvide input in digital delivery and information management of various projects from conception through to completionMentor others on the team.Your skills. familiarity with international structural codes and standards is an assetEffective delivery of structural projects for public and private clientsProficiency with structural engineering software (experience with BIM software or workflows would be considered an asset)Project management experience.
