The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, with an anticipated start date of January 1, 2027. The position is held in the Division of Clinical Public Health and will contribute significantly to the academic mission of the University of Toronto Joint Centre for Bioethics (JCB).Responsibilities
- Teach bioethics courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels, and supervise and mentor Masters and PhD students.
- Contribute actively to the translation of bioethics knowledge into health systems and public health policy locally, nationally, and internationally through independent scholarship and collaboration with the JCB.
- Pursue cutting-edge, independent, high‐impact bioethics scholarship at the highest international level and establish an outstanding, externally funded research program.Qualifications
- Doctoral degree (PhD, DPhil, SJD, etc.) in a bioethics‐related discipline by the time of appointment or shortly thereafter.
- Demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching, including publications in top‐ranked journals and significant conference presentations.
- Strong commitment to interdisciplinarity and academic collaboration, and a forward‐looking,



boundary‐spanning orientation to emerging bioethics challenges.
- Robust academic preparation in bioethics theory and methods, and exceptional potential for academic leadership and impact in health system and policy ethics, public and global health ethics, and/or emerging fields such as AI ethics, climate health ethics, or polycrisis ethics.
- Evidence of excellence in bioethics knowledge translation and mobilization (policy impact, partnership activities, decision‐making tools and frameworks, engagement activities) to influence health systems and public health policy and practice.Competitive SalaryThe expected salary range is $130,000–$155,000 CAD per annum, depending on experience.
