Status: Full-time and part-time opportunities availableCampus: Civic and General CampusesSalary Range: Approximately $5,000 - $8,000 per weekStart Date: ASAPPosition OverviewThe Department of Surgery at The Ottawa Hospital (TOH) is seeking qualified and motivatedHospitalists to join our multidisciplinary inpatient care teams. This role offers an excitingopportunity to provide comprehensive inpatient medical care for hospitalized patients acrossseveral surgical specialty services within one of Canada's leading academic health sciencesHospitalists play an important role in supporting high-quality, patient-centred care by workingcollaboratively with surgeons, residents, nursing staff, and allied health professionals. The positionfocuses on inpatient management, care coordination, discharge planning, and enhancingcontinuity of care throughout the patient's hospital stay.Physicians with a strong interest in hospital-based medicine are encouraged to apply. Previousexperience in surgical specialties is not required.The Divisions currently recruiting include:Thoracic SurgeryVascular SurgeryGeneral Surgery (including Acute Care Surgery and Trauma)Gynecologic OncologyAdditional specialty opportunities anticipatedKey ResponsibilitiesProvide comprehensive inpatient medical care for patients admitted to surgical servicesPerform daily inpatient rounds and coordinate investigations, consultations, and discharge planningCollaborate closely with attending surgeons, residents, fellows, nursing staff, and allied health professionalsSupport patient flow, continuity of care, and quality improvement initiativesParticipate in patient safety activities and development of clinical care pathwaysContribute to the academic mission of the Department through teaching and mentorship opportunities, where applicableOptional opportunities for additional clinical activities, including surgical assisting,

and involvement inquality improvement and innovation initiatives.Compensation through OHIP billings for inpatient servicesTypical inpatient census of approximately 15–25 patients, depending on specialty serviceFull-time and part-time opportunities availableFlexible scheduling options may be available depending on divisional needsCompetitive compensation for full-time physicians is anticipated to be approximately $300,000 annually, depending on service assignment and clinical activity.
