The clinic has 3 exam rooms and is supported by RNs and a clinical assistant.Vancouver Coastal Health Public Health Program is seeking compassionate and experienced physicians to provide prenatal and postpartum care for youth on a sessional basis. Preference is given to physicians who also provide intrapartum care. This role focuses on delivering low-barrier, trauma-informed, and culturally protected care to pregnant and parenting youth. With an emphasis on equity, relationship-based care, and interdisciplinary collaboration.The physician will work closely with the public health interdisciplinary team including nurse practitioners, nurses,
dieticians and support workers.The physician will work Thursday afternoons 1:00-4:30 PMSessional RateKey ResponsibilitiesProvide comprehensive prenatal care for youth including assessments, screening and ongoing monitoring of maternal and fetal healthParticipate in labor and delivery care (based on hospital privileges and scope) ensuring continuity where possibleProvide postpartum care for youth and infants including medical follow- up, lactation support, parenting support and contraceptionSupport pregnant and parenting youth with complex social, mental health and substance use needs using a harm reduction approachCollaborate with a multidisciplinary team (including public health nurses, midwives, nurse practitioners, social workers, support workers and other community agencies) to ensure coordinated careFacilitate referrals to appropriate services including obstetrics, pediatrics, mental health and social supports.Maintain accurate and confidential clinical documentation in accordance with regulatory and organizational standardsProvide care that is trauma-informed, culturally sage and responsive to the needs of Indigenous, newcomer and marginalized youthPromote health equity and reduce barriers to accessing perinatal careQualificationsMD or equivalent, licensed (or eligible for licensure) with the [Provincial College of Physicians and Surgeons].Certification in Family Medicine with experience in obstetrics and perinatal care preferred.Current hospital privileges (or eligibility) for delivery care preferredExperience working with youth, including vulnerable or marginalized populations is an asset.Demonstrated cultural humility and commitment to inclusive, youth-centered care practices. #J-18808-Ljbffr
