About the Role The District of Tumbler Ridge has an exciting career opportunity for a diligent, adaptable, and highly qualified professional to join our management team as the new Deputy Director of Corporate Services. This is a senior-level administrative position that provides critical support and leadership within the Corporate Services department. The Deputy Director of Corporate Services assists the Director of Corporate Services (Corporate Officer) in executing statutory duties under the supervision of the Corporate Officer or Acting Corporate Officer and managing departmental operations as required. Key Responsibilities Departmental Management and Operations, under the supervision of the Director of Corporate Services: Assisting with and potentially managing processes within the Corporate Services department, such as policies and bylaws review, annual report, scholarships, business licences, marriage licences, cemetery permits, Development Variance Permits (DVP), Temporary Use Permits (TUP), within others. Assisting with and potentially managing agreements when required,



monitoring and assisting other departments with contract management. Handling land matters related to the department, including filings in the Land Title Office. Assisting with and potentially managing front desk operations and reception staff. Preparing and handling detailed correspondence, reports, presentations, and tables; analyzing data, drawingconclusions, and navigating complex situations independently, while maintaining sensitive and confidential information. Other related tasks as required. Legislative and Council Support, under the supervision of the Corporate Officer or Acting Corporate Officer: Assisting in all Corporate Officer functions. Preparing agendas and recording minutes for Council and Committee meetings. Assisting with drafting bylaws, conducting related research, preparing consolidations of bylaws, and organizing and filing bylaws. Assisting with records management processes and routine, including annual disposition. Assisting with Freedom of Information Requests and Protection of Privacy processes. Preparing and posting public notices as required under the legislation. Acting as a Chief Election Officer or Deputy Chief Election Officer. Other related tasks as required. Note: The Deputy Director will not act as the Corporate Officer. During the Corporate Officer's absence, statutory responsibilities will be conducted by a designated municipal officer in accordance with the municipal officer's bylaw. What you bring To succeed in this senior-level role, the ideal candidate must possess significant education and experience, demonstrating the capacity to assume a high level of responsibility: Education:



Completion of post-secondary education in Public Administration, Business Administration, Local Government, or a related discipline. Experience: A minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of progressive experience in a municipal administrative or management role. Certifications: Completion of Local Government Management Association (LGMA) programs, or intermediate Certificate in Local Government, or a significant progression in the Certification as a Municipal Clerk (CMC) is highly preferred. Knowledge: Thorough working knowledge of the Local Government Act, Community Charter, Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, district bylaws, statutes, and other relevant legislation, regulations, and policies. Skills Strong leadership skills and a team player capable of working effectively in a Council and community-driven setting. Proficiency in recording meeting minutes and advising on meeting procedures. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with competence in presentation and report writing. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess information and make informed decisions in complex scenarios. Ability to protect confidential information and remain neutral regarding political decisions. Advanced computer proficiency, experience with Meeting Management and Contract Management software (e.G., iCompass). Other Requirements: A valid Class 5 BC Driver's License. A criminal record check must be completed.
